Deep within Konoha's dense forest, Mirai casually eliminated the last Sarutobi clan member.
[Ding! Congratulations to the Host for successfully plundering: Chakra +1!]
As the notification echoed, Mirai clapped his hands together.
"Wood Release: Nativity of a Sea of Trees!"
The ground roiled as towering trees sprouted, swallowing the scattered corpses of the Sarutobi clan in mere moments. Soon, all traces of the battle were erased, leaving behind a serene yet eerie landscape.
'Status,' he murmured.
A translucent panel appeared before his eyes:
[Name: Uchiha Mirai]
[Physique: 6688]
[Mental Strength: 6673]
[Chakra: 6703]
[Kekkei Genkai: Mangekyou Sharingan, Magnet Release - Gold Dust, Scorch Release, Shikotsumyaku, Boil Release, Illusion - Five Senses Manipulation, Byakugan, Wood Release, Rinnegan …]
[Other: … Senju's Body, Superhuman Strength, Shikkotsu Forest Sage Mode …]
[Dōjutsu: Amaterasu, Sarutahiko-no-Mikoto, Takamagahara, Susanoo, Tsukiyomi-no-Mikoto, Kotoamatsukami, , Kamui, Limbo: Border Jail, Chibaku Tensei, Planetary Devastation]
Satisfied with his stats, Uchiha Mirai smirked.
At this stage, the Sarutobi clan couldn't rely on their so-called "three thousand ninja." In truth, the clan only had about a thousand capable fighters. The rest were ordinary members, the elderly, and the infirm—around four thousand in total. They had collectively contributed over three thousand attribute points to him.
Upon reaching 6,000 points in each attribute, Mirai had unlocked another Rinnegan ability: Chibaku Tensei. This technique summoned massive meteors from outer space to unleash widespread devastation.
In the original timeline, Uchiha Madara had used this ability to shatter the morale of the Allied Shinobi Forces. Even formidable ninjas like Ōnoki nearly lost their lives attempting to stop its destruction.
"Not bad," Mirai muttered, his tone casual.
For him, Chibaku Tensei wasn't particularly impressive, but its overwhelming power was godlike to weaker opponents. The sheer spectacle made it invaluable for his goal of unifying the ninja world.
The Sarutobi clan's final contribution wasn't in vain.
After a brief moment of introspection, Mirai turned and strode toward the village.
Sarutobi Hiruzen, Shimura Danzo, Mitokado Homura, Utatane Koharu—dead.
Sarutobi clan, Shimura clan, Mitokado clan, Utatane clan—annihilated.
The Plan—successfully executed.
...
Three days later
Within the Hyuga clan's compound, nearly every member had gathered in the family shrine. The atmosphere was solemn, as was typical of the Hyuga clan. Even before the meeting began, the room was silent, no one whispered or exchanged glances.
Under this heavy stillness, Hyuga Hiashi took his place at the head of the assembly.
No sooner had he sat down than one of the elder members of the Main House spoke up.
"Hiashi, what's the reason for this sudden clan meeting?"
Hiashi's gaze swept across the room, finally settling on Hyuga Neji, who stood quietly in a corner.
Under Hiashi's scrutiny, Neji's fists tightened. The words Hiashi had said to him days ago still echoed in his mind, filling him with a mix of anxiety and anticipation.
Hiashi had suggested something radical. Something Neji had barely dared to dream of.
Was he really going to…?
Hiashi's calm voice interrupted his thoughts.
"I've called this meeting to discuss the Caged Bird seal."
"The Caged Bird?" one of the elders frowned. "What is there to discuss?"
Confused murmurs spread through the crowd. Even the usually stoic clan members exchanged puzzled glances.
Hiashi took a deep breath and continued.
"I have decided to abolish the Caged Bird system. From this day forward, no new members of the clan will bear this mark. When the next generation comes of age, there will be no division between the Main House and Branch House."
A deafening silence followed.
Every Hyuga member stared at Hiashi in disbelief, their mouths agape. Even Neji's breathing quickened as the weight of the announcement sank in.
He had assumed Hiashi might spare him alone from the curse mark. But to eliminate the system entirely?
This was madness!
"Hiashi, have you lost your mind?!" an elder shouted, slamming his fist onto the table.
"The Caged Bird is the cornerstone of the Hyuga clan! It protects the Byakugan, our legacy for generations!"
"How dare you suggest such heresy?!"
The elders erupted in anger, their voices overlapping in a chorus of outrage.
Hiashi, however, remained calm.
"Yes, the Byakugan's power has made us targets. But that does not justify enslaving our kin."
He swept his gaze across the room, his voice firm.
"In the ninja world, no other clans with powerful Kekkei Genkai have created such a twisted system. Uchiha, Senju—they flourished without oppressing their own.
"I've seen enough of the darkness this system has bred within our clan. It ends here."
For the first time, emotions stirred among the gathered clan members. Many were from the Branch House, their lives dominated by the ever-present threat of the Caged Bird. The idea of freedom—true freedom—seemed almost too good to be true.
The elders, however, were unrelenting.
"You're leading this clan to ruin!" one barked.
"Without the Caged Bird, the Branch House will fall prey to enemies seeking the Byakugan. You're dooming us all!"
Hiashi met their accusations with a cold glare.
"And yet, the Uchiha clan never restricted their Sharingan. Are you truly concerned about the Byakugan, or about losing your control over others?"
His words sent ripples through the room. For the first time, many Branch House members felt a glimmer of hope.
The elders, realizing their authority was slipping, rose to their feet in unison.
"Enough! Hiashi, you're unfit to lead. From this moment, you are stripped of your title as clan head. Guards! Take him to the dungeons!"
At their command, Branch House guards hesitated but moved to obey. Fear of the Caged Bird's punishment kept them in line.
Hiashi stood resolute, unflinching even as his own people turned against him.
Neji's heart sank as he watched the scene unfold.
So this was the fate of those who dared to defy tradition…
Yet, as Neji stole a glance at Hiashi, he noticed something strange. The man still wore a calm, confident smile.
Neji's mind flashed back to Hiashi's cryptic words: "I've sought the help of someone powerful…"
Neji murmured to himself,
"Could there really be someone who could turn the tide of this hopeless situation?"
