Chapter 225: Samui

Knock, knock, knock...

The sound of knocking broke Mirai's train of thought, pulling him back to reality.

"Come in."

At his command, Mabui stepped into the room.

"Lord Mirai, the village's reconstruction efforts have entered a steady phase. Supplies are continuously being transported in."

"The villagers are truly grateful to you," Mabui said with a respectful smile.

Initially, she had assumed that after Kumogakure was forcefully conquered by Uchiha Mirai, the villagers would suffer in misery.

To her surprise, Mirai had mobilized resources from Konohagakure and Sunagakure to assist with the reconstruction. He even personally dealt with the Daimyo of the Land of Lightning.

Now, life for the shinobi of Kumogakure wasn't worse than before.

Mabui started to understand why the Sunagakure shinobi had fought so fiercely for Mirai during the early stages of the war. With living conditions improving significantly, some villagers were even beginning to label the Fourth Raikage a "missing-nin."

If someone attempted to separate Kumogakure from Konohagakure now, they would likely face the same resistance as Sunagakure's ninjas had shown before.

"This is what we call unity," Mirai said with a slight smile. "When the shinobi world becomes one, it's not just about the end of war."

"I can consolidate resources across the entire shinobi world and allocate them to where they're needed most."

"When that day comes, there will be no more frozen corpses by the roadside, no more starving families."

Hiss!

Mabui inhaled sharply, her eyes widening in astonishment.

She hadn't realized that Mirai's vision extended far beyond a single village or even a single nation—it encompassed the entire shinobi world.

Following someone with such ambition and compassion didn't seem like a bad choice.

Mirai's voice brought her back from her thoughts. "Mabui, is there something else you needed?"

Mabui quickly composed herself, wiping her mouth nervously.

"Yes, Lord Mirai. With the village still in the middle of reconstruction and resources being limited, I've arranged for you to have a personal secretary to assist with your daily needs."

She clapped her hands, and a fair-skinned woman with short golden hair walked in. Her features were exquisite, and her figure was nothing short of stunning—rivaling even Tsunade or Hinata.

"Lord Mirai, my name is Samui. It's an honor to serve you."

Mirai smiled at Mabui, clearly pleased.

"You've certainly surprised me this time, Mabui."

Seeing his satisfied expression, Mabui quietly took her leave, shutting the door behind her.

Left alone with Mirai, Samui shifted uncomfortably under his gaze. She finally broke the silence.

"Lord Mirai, I will serve as your personal secretary from now on, assisting you with both your daily needs and introducing you to Kumogakure's customs."

Mirai nodded, chuckling softly.

"Customs, huh? Sounds like something worth learning."

With that, he casually pulled Samui into his arms.

...

The next morning, Mirai drew open the curtains, stretching with a satisfied smile.

Even in the vast shinobi world, Samui's talents and qualities stood among the best. However, her shy and reserved demeanor added a unique charm.

As he thought about his fortunate circumstances, Mirai couldn't help but feel grateful. To live in the world of Naruto, interacting with his favorite characters—what could be more fulfilling?

The sunlight filtered through the window, stirring Samui awake. She blinked sleepily before hastily gathering herself and approaching Mirai.

"Lord Mirai, I'll prepare breakfast right away."

Mirai waved her off casually, watching as she moved to the kitchen.

Before long, she returned with a steaming bowl of ramen.

"Lord Mirai, I apologize for the simple meal. Resources are still limited."

Mirai chuckled, taking the bowl. "Ramen's my favorite. Next time, I'll make some for you."

Samui shook her head quickly. "I couldn't possibly trouble you."

"I insist," Mirai said firmly.

Faced with his determination, Samui nodded reluctantly.

After breakfast, she tidied up the room with an almost obsessive precision. Mirai finally spoke.

"Samui, go find Yugito Nii and bring her here."

Samui froze for a moment, her expression clouding with sadness.

She knew Mirai had sealed the Three-Tails, Eight-Tails, and Nine-Tails within himself. It was clear he sought to harness the power of the tailed beasts.

Calling for Yugito Nii could only mean one thing—he intended to extract the Two-Tails from her, a process that would almost certainly result in her death.

"Something wrong?" Mirai asked, noticing Samui's hesitation.

After a moment's silence, Samui mustered her courage.

"Lord Mirai, please… don't kill Yugito Nii."

"I understand that the power of the tailed beasts is dangerous and a potential threat to your unified shinobi world."

"But Yugito is a perfect jinchūriki. She has made peace with the Two-Tails. She would never endanger your vision."

Mirai raised an eyebrow. "You don't want Yugito to die?"

Samui lowered her gaze. "Yes."

Mirai rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I do possess the ability to bring someone back to life, though the cost is… significant."

"If you can spare her, I'll do anything you ask," Samui said, her voice trembling with desperation.

Mirai smiled faintly, stepping closer. He placed a hand on her shoulder, his voice steady and calm.

"Samui, a true shinobi must never be ruled by their emotions. But if you truly value your comrade, then fight to protect them. Strive to change what seems inevitable."

Samui looked up, determination flickering in her eyes as she nodded.

Mirai's smile widened. "That's the spirit."
