The Hunt

"Killing huh." Ronan said on hearing the response that the system gave him. "So like do I have to kill only humans to increase my shadow essence?" Ronan asked.

[No. Both human Advancers and monsters.] Replied the system.

Ronan found this somewhat of a problem, because hunting monsters was really dangerous. At this period, the way that humans gained powers, monsters started spawning from different place. They mainly came from portal breaks. Now portals, where different dimensions leading away from earth. The normal Advancer, needs to kill these monsters and obtains their core. The Advancer then absorbs the core making him/her stronger or increasing their essence. But in his case, he had to kill the monsters. And not just monsters, humans too.

"Honestly I don't find this a problem at the moment. Considering there are people on my kill list." Ronan thought out loud while smiling picturing Henry and his gang members dead. "I told him I'll kill him, and I'll do just that.

Immediately after thinking that he got a message from the system:

[Quest issued:Hunt them down.

Quest description:Kill Henry and his gang members as an act of revenge.

Quest rewards:25 shadow essence, +2 in all stats point, level up of one skill.

Penalty:Continue being bullied

No. of gang members killed:0/5]

On seeing the quest, Ronan was shocked, but that shock instantly turned into joy.

"That solves the problem of my shadow essence for now. But how do I go about in killing them?" Ronan thought out loud. "I bet they will not expect that am an Advancer like them." He said chuckling to himself.

He then came up with the idea that the system didn't specify how he should hunt them down. It didn't say that they should be together, so he'll hunt them down separately. But he'll save the best for last.

"Henry." Ronan said with fist clenched and his teeth gritted . "I will kill you."

Ronan certainly hadn't forgotten what Henry had said about his sister. That was a very delicate matter. Something that happened seven years ago.

Ronan tried to calm down. He unclenched his fist and took a deep breath.

"So system, wanna give me any advice on this quest?"

[It's all up to you host. This system will not interfere.] The system being ever so helpful replied.

Ronan gave a low laugh, he didn't really expect the system to give him any helpful advice. But it didn't hurt to try.

"That's alright. I have some plans myself on how to complete this quest." He said with a smile.

___________

Ronan was leaving in the small town of Larkspur. It was mainly were the people at the bottom found themselves in. The people weren't much. The people weren't actually stuck there, they could leave, but they hard to undergo some procedures to leave.

So in this small city, everybody knew everybody. And they especially knew Ronan. He made himself known by being involved in mischievous activities, his latest was being caught while stealing bread from the towns only restaurant.

The Advancers that were in Larkspur where all Novices, but even a low tier Novice was respected in Larkspur considering that they were only a handful of Advancers in the small town. An the highest Advancer in Larkspur was the Chief of Security, who was a high tier novice.

Now one of the very few Advancers was walking on a road after buying some stuffs to eat. This was Jeffery. The fat boy who was also part of Henry's gang. And who Ronan decided was his first target.

It has been five days since Ronan acquired the system and five days since he received the quest to kill Henry and his gang members.

And he decided to start with Jeffery, the weakest of them all. Ronan was positive that if he was put against Jeffery when he was still a regular, he would have beaten him. That is if he was given time to prepare for the confrontation. Jeffery had the ability to manipulate plants, and if they weren't any plants in the vicinity, he could use seeds. Jeffery could make vines surge out of the seeds but Ronan had a feeling that it was only some particular types of plants , and doing that consumed a lot of essence for a low tier novice like him.

Ronan's plan to kill Jeffery was very simple, actually he wasn't sure if he could do it. At the end of the day, he was just a 14 year old. He wasn't entirely sure if he could take the life of another human being. But he was sure he could find a way to make it work. It really wasn't that he couldn't do it, it was just that he was having second thoughts.

Ronan was following Jeffery from a safe distance not wanting to get caught. His plan was simple, attacking when no one was around.

Ronan didn't want a direct confrontation. That might cause a little bit of noise, and he wanted the process to be swift and silent.

So as Jeffery took a turn into an alleyway where no one was around, Ronan activated his [Bolt] skill and he felt a surge of energy flow to his legs. He immediately rushed to the direction where Jeffery was and arrived behind him in the span of the seconds.

"Who's ther..." Before Jeffery could finish his sentence, Ronan used a rock that he had picked up earlier to deliver a blow to the back of his head, causing him to immediately loose consciousness.

"That couldn't have gone better." Ronan said with a smile, cleaning the blood that got on his hand.

But that was just step one. Step two was bringing Jeffery back to the dump site without him being seen.

Jeffery was fat and heavy so Ronan being thin couldn't carry him, so he proceeded to drag him back to the dump site.

He had to stop and hide from the town folks so they wouldn't see him with an unconscious Jeffery.

On reaching to the dump site, Ronan decided to lift Jeffery on his back as he scaled the fence.

He found out that he couldn't carry living beings as he shadow stepped, only noon living beings, which made this post extremely hard considering how heavy Jeffery was.

He finally managed to scale the fence with Jeffery at his back. On reaching to the other side of the fence Jeffery was showing signs of regaining consciousness, so Ronan had to hurry it up.

On reaching to the back of the shack, he hastily tired Jeffery with an old door he found laying around.

Jeffery finally regained consciousness. As he opened his eyes and looked around, he was assaulted with a heavy headache.

"Where am I?" He muttered.

"Your finally awake fatty." Ronan said smiling devilishly.
