_Getting Used To It

When we finally got to the dining room, I saw a sight that would've seemed foreign a month ago.

My family were all sitting there, with my mother seemingly discussing with Catherine.

CATHERINE of all people.

My mouth fell in surprise as Kaene led me to the dining table, glancing at me and giving me a wink before he sat on his chair at the end of the table.

I ended up sitting on the chair to his right, glancing at him briefly, still not able to believe that things could be so peaceful between us.

"Took you long enough." Caleb, who was sitting at the opposite side of the table, blurted, staring at me with a knowing look in his eyes. "For a second there, I thought you went missing or something."

I knew what he was trying to insinuate, especially with that smirk on his face.

Luckily, Kaene didn't seem to notice and immediately went to eat the food in front of him.
