POV: Emilia
"You cannot keep acting this way, Enzo!" I shouted, my voice ringing out across the little aperture. The wet, cold air and the tension it carried made every breath seem hefty. " You cannot keep running yourself into risk and behave as though you are unbeatable."
His wide shoulders squared, his form radiating defiance, his profile sharp against the weak illumination from the fissures above. His jaw tightened and his eyes became ablaze with fury he turned to face me. And you cannot keep questioning me when I am attempting to defend you. I kept on, my voice rising. You are protecting Enzo not only from injury. You are leaving me. You consider me to have some liability.
His voice low and deadly, he replied, "You don't understand." He came in closer, clearly driven by fire. Should something happen to you, I—what? I cut him off and challenged. Not turning back, my heart beat in my chest as I went to meet him. "What, Enzo??" Say it clearly.
