Enzo's voice, full of both rage and despair, sliced through the gloom like a lifeline. His fingers clenched on mine, his clasp the sole firm object in this abyss. "Do you find me trustworthy?"

Blinking confused, the mothering blackness pressed against me. In my ears my pulse thundered. "I—I don't know," I muttered, my voice almost above a whisper. "Do you even Trust me?"

His quiet said volumes, and my chest ached more.

"Answer me!" Yanking my hand free, I demanded. Raw and shattered, my voice rang. "How can I believe someone is hiding so much? Who is taking me ever more into this dream?

His face was momentarily lit by the flutter of light from above, showing the strain in his jaw and shadows in his eyes. His voice angry, he yelled back, "You think I'm dragging you into this?" "You would find me wanting this for you? For us as well?
