Magic

Entering the library I could see a new row of shelves that weren't there before they looked dated but well kept some books glowing at the seams and others inscribed with runes. Mother was grabbing books of the shelf and putting them on the table she grabbed three each one having no title.

"Please sit sweetheart and get comfortable we have quite a bit to cover." Mother said gesturing for me to sit at the chair she was next too. As I sat down I could feel each book individually as if they had their own mana core.

"You can sense the mana radiating from them can't you?" Mother asked

"I can it feels really strong for a book." I said

"Each one has a soul to help keep them bound only a few can undo the bind either"

"Why haven't I ever seen them I was certain I've read every book in this library?"

"That is because they were concealed and you don't know how to use detection magic yet."

"So all those books I read on magic were they worth reading?"

"Oh certainly everything you read will help but these are the step up from those these times contain much more detail on the inner workings of mana and magic to the point it gets into no spell casting the first one you're reading is really just an introduction one it'll teach you the different tiers and other basic stuff."

As I opened the book it said just that the different tiers of mage explaining that what tier a mage was in was based on the quantity of mana they could use in one spell. Also saying that one spell could be individual level and universe level it all depended on the person using the spell. It further explained that how large their effect was determined their ranking. The first tier is individual a spell capable of effecting only one person, second group, third platoon, fourth town, fifth city, sixth country, seventh continent, eighth planet, ninth solar system, tenth galaxy, eleventh reality, twelfth universe.

"Wait mother does that mean I'm a universe tier mage?" I asked mother as she sipped on her tea.

"It does given now that your mana is infinite you are a universe tier mage there isn't many universe tier mages give or take a hundred or so I think you'll find most of them here in Ignia they're all adventurers so they're easy to find."

"That's a lot of firepower for just one nation."

"Well Ignia is the universal superpower come with me we are going to do more hands on instruction I think it will help you learn faster and experience is the best teacher you'll read these on your own time." She said standing up holding her hand out to me.

"You've got a point there." I said grabbing her hand she lead me through the hallways of the manor until we were eventually in the basement standing before an enormous dark grey door with mana oozing off of it like gas.

"I've read about the mana bleed of mythril before but seeing it it's kinda beautiful." I said staring at the enormous door.

"It took a very very long time to fully construct this room it contains more secrets than the vault under the crimson castle." Mother said holding her hand against the door the door began to glow as it crept open. As I walked through I could feel the mana in the air there was so much mana it was almost tangible there were racks of enchanted weapons and armor of all types lining the walls book shelves and chest. So much sterling they could pay off all of Ignia debt multiple times over.

"Welcome to the FlameCrest vault a place so secure and valuable even the emperor has to ask permission to enter." Mother said with pride leading me to a separate room inside the vault. Inside I could see four amulets one red one blue one green and one white all on pedestals.

"These amulets represent the four core elements of magic fire, water, earth, and wind but as in sure you know those aren't the only things you can do with magic lightning spatial gravity there's infinite kinds but these four are the core of basic magic and mana manipulation." Mother explained

"What are they for I can't imagine you'd have them locked here for nothing?"

"They're catalysts normally you'd implant a catalyst into armor or weapons to amplify that type of magic but these are a tad different these are the original catalyst the first ones ever made by Astra the war goddess they not only amplify but they counter that specific element as well say you tried using fire magic on the fire amulet it would do nothing what you're going to be doing with these is simple I'm going to teach you how to use magical items that passively amp you."

"But weren't you going to teach me control first?"

"I was but since you have infinite mana now magic control has dropped in priority a teeny tiny bit now pick whichever amulet you would like to start with."

As instructed I turned toward the amulets being a descendant of the war goddess I felt fire was the logical choice. Once I picked it up I could feel the slightest bit of power emanating from the amulet as I went to put it around my neck mother stopped me.

"Don't put it on yet you have to attune to yourself first let some of your mana flow through it until it is glowing."

As I began letting my mana flow into the amulet it began to flow a beautiful crimson red I kept letting my mana flow through it until it couldn't glow any brighter.

"Now all it needs a drop of your blood to attune to you." Mother said handing me her dagger "just lightly prick your finger and let the blood drip onto the amulet."

once I grabbed the dagger I gently sliced to my fingertip open letting my blood drip onto the amulet. As my blood hit the amulet it absorbed it and began to lightly hum the glow slowly disappearing once it stopped glowing it stopped humming as well.

"I did it mother!" I exclaimed

"Yes you did honey now you can put it on now."

Once I was wearing it I could feel my body react my mana began flowing through the amulet as if it was apart of me.

"How does it feel?" Mother asked

"It feels good I can feel it as if it's apart of me."

"That's because this kind of amulet passively amps your fire magic other magical items will feel much different and function much differently the possibilities are nearly endless." Mother said excitement creeping across her face

Out of curiosity I conjured a flame in my hand just to see how much stronger it truly was and despite me putting the absolute bare minimum amount of mana possible into it the spell was at least two times stronger. Then out of nowhere I was struck with a fireball but all it did was dissipate when it hit me.

"You see fire spellls no longer work against you when wearing that." Mother said excitedly I could feel how much she enjoyed teaching me magic and how much she loved magic but I knew part of her didn't want to teach me at all because of what father was going to do with my power.

"Mother what if I attune to all of them at once would I then be immune to all core elements?" I asked

"Yes you would but attuning to multiple amulets or items especially ones of this strength puts strain on you mostly strain on your flow of mana so doing it even for you might be challenging."

I considered the idea of manually controlling my mana flow to be able to do so but I wouldn't be able to do that without trying all four at once that way I knew how it would affect me.

"Could I try to use all four of them I have an idea?" I could see the gears in mothers head turning as she considered my request.

"I will allow it however you will do it one at a time not all at once understand." Mother said sternly I nodded my head in agreement walking over to the amulets I grabbed the air amulet and repeated the process of attuning the amulet letting my mana flow through it until it couldn't glow and brighter then pricking my finger and letting the blood drip onto it until the process was complete. Once complete I put the amulet around my neck I could feel my mana flow being distributed massively I began to pull all my focus on controlling the flow of mana and after a few minutes it began to work I was manually controlling my mana flow. I cast a simple water ball to test whether it worked and I felt the power increase the same way the fire amulet did I smiled my mothers face was full of pride and excitement.

"Mother cast a water spell I think I did it." I said smiling

"Ok are you ready honey?"

I nodded my head and she cast a small water spell it wasn't powerful but that wasn't the point just like the fire it dissipated when it hit me. I smiled knowing that my idea was correct I couldn't do more than two yet I was struggling to keep it under control but I will definitely become stronger so I can use them in the future.
