Book 3 Army VS man-beasts

Chapter 119 Book 3 Army VS man-beasts

The army of over two thousand men marched cautiously into the outskirts of Zong Village. The air was thick with decay, the scent of rotting wood and something far more sinister filling their lungs. The village's once prosperous view is now filled with dust and decay, it was eerily silent—too silent.

Captain Ren, one of the officers of Prince Gu Bojin, tightened his grip on his sword. His soldiers were mostly farmers turned warriors, conscripted in desperation, only a few of them were veterans just like himself under the 5th prince's command. However, the recruited soldiers are unprepared for this battle. Their weapons were mismatched, a collection of old spears, chipped swords, and wooden shields that bore the marks of previous battles. They were poorly armored, their leather tunics and makeshift iron plating inadequate against whatever monstrosities lurked within the abandoned village.
