Chapter 121 Book 3 Infection
The trek back to Xian Town was fast and tense. Hou carried Zhi over his shoulder, his usually sharp eyes clouded with worry. Yue speeds up beside them, glancing at Zhi every few steps. Zhi, his face pale and drenched in sweat, groaned occasionally. His wounded arm hung limply, wrapped in thick bandages that did little to contain the blackish veins creeping up from the gash.
"Hou..." Zhi's voice was weak. "You don't have to carry me. I can still move."
Hou scoffed. "Like hell, you can. You collapsed five minutes ago. Just stay put and save your strength."
Yue, her brows furrowed, tightened her grip on her bow. "I don't understand. We applied medicine right away. This shouldn't be happening. The antibiotic that the army produces is top notch and it was created by the princess, how could it not take effect?"
Zhi let out a raspy chuckle. "Well, maybe that mutant brute had something nasty in its claws."
