A princess from the Cold Palace

<p>The air in Duan Village was thick with the scent of blood and damp earth. The aftermath of the battle was still evident in the broken palisades, the charred remnants of homes, and the weary faces of the villagers who had survived the nightmarish assault of the man-beasts. Yet, despite their exhaustion, there was relief in their eyes. The horde had been vanquished, and the masterminds—the brute and the mysterious creature—had been slain by the hands of the enigmatic girl leading Xian Town's soldiers.</p>

<p>Li An sat atop her mount at the village entrance, surveying the scene. Going there she ran with the soldiers, but in her return, her men found a few wild mounts and quickly captured them. On one of the mounts lay two mutilated corpses with traces of Xian Town soldier uniform. Those were the scouts she and her group were supposed to rescue but the two were already dead when they found them in the stockpile of rotten things.</p>
