<p>The morning air was crisp as Li An led a group of six soldiers into the western forest. It had been a few days since the foragers returned with their report on the strange trees they had encountered—trees that emitted a pungent odor and bled a thick, milky sap when cut. More intriguingly, the foragers had reported spotting several Blackmaws in the vicinity, serpent-like creatures with black and white markings and an almost impenetrable hide.</p>

<p>As they moved deeper into the forest, the scent of the trees grew stronger. Li An knew from the books in her void space library that these were rubber trees, valuable for their sap, which could be processed into a flexible material with countless applications. However, before she could focus on that, she had to deal with the Blackmaws that seemed to be drawn to the area.</p>
