A princess from the Cold Palace

Hours later, deep in the hidden cave's thatch house, Li Hua and Mei Lin huddled with the two young girls. They have heard the commotion in the village, even in the forest. But now the sounds had grown distant.

"What is happening out there?" asked Mei Lin.

Li Hua gritted her teeth and decided to go out and investigate.

"I will check things out," she said as she grabbed a crossbow.

"Mother, don't go…" Her daughter Xio Lan grabbed her hand.

"It's okay… I will not leave and just watch the village from there." Li Hua pointed at the opening in the cave's ceiling.

As she climbed the makeshift ladder that Li An had made, she soon reached the top and carefully hid behind the bushes. From there, she saw what was happening in the village from afar.
