Betrayed by Blood
Avery sat curled up on her bed, her knees pulled to her chest as quiet tears slid down her cheeks. She couldn't stop replaying Cain's harsh words, the anger in his voice when all she had done was help. She honestly wished she had just stayed back in the room and not gone anywhere. Today was her break from the incessant troubles she had been put through since she arrived at his pack, and even today, she couldn't have a break.
She wiped her tears roughly. Her chest tightened as his words echoed in her head again. Was that really what he thought of her? All those words he said, the rage in his eyes. She shuddered internally, rubbing her wrist gently. She looked at it again; it was angry red from how tight he had held her. What did she do that was even so bad? Why was he so bothered over something a random warrior said? It wasn't like he wanted her, so why?
A knock on the door startled her. She quickly wiped her face and sat up.
