Chapter 118

Betrayed by Blood

It was as if time had stopped.

Kendra's voice hung in the air, suffocating. Avery stared at her, shocked to her bones. Not only did she just tell Cain that she was trying to break their bond, but she also revealed to everyone that they were mates, something Cain had wanted to keep secret.

'No one must know about this,' he had told her, only for Kendra to expose it all publicly. Avery's face turned pale, and she gulped hard. The room stood frozen, with warriors, servants, and everyone around standing still, all of them staring.

Cain didn't move. Didn't blink.

Avery's breath was shaky, uneven. Her lips parted, and she shook her head slowly. "No, no, no," she muttered, unsure of what she was saying no to. Was it the fact that she wanted to break their bond or the fact that they were mates? Cain didn't hear her, his eyes fixed on the woman who had just revealed it all.

Kendra.
