Standing tall, Umbra faced the divine beings hovering before him, his heart pounding. The sky had quieted, the chaos that had once reigned now dissipating into eerie stillness. The god that had spoken earlier-the one whose voice had reverberated through the heavens-now looked down upon him, its glowing form pulsating with power.
"I will accept the contract," Umbra said, his voice unshakeable. "I don't care what it is."
The god smiled and clucked his tongue in satisfaction; there was knowledge in its eyes. "As you wish, boy. But there's no need to read it. You've already accepted the terms."
The other gods nodded in concert, their eyes shining like the stars above them. And with that, they started to disappear, off into the sky, as if they had never been there at all. But just before one of them completely disappeared, it turned back to Umbra.
