Run...

"Boys, quickly! Go to the back of the house and jump out the window!" Erwin commanded, his voice steady, taking deep breathes, he prepared himself for what he was about to do.

Without hesitation, the brothers rushed, climbing out of the window. Whiskey-Jack boosting Muskrat, who was halfway through the window when he looked back over his shoulder. His body stiffening at the sight before him.

His father stood behind the door, an axe raised high above his head. His stoic face filled with focus and pain, but he mouthed something to Whiskey-Jack...Run.

The next moment, the door burst open. Whiskey-Jack's mother stood there, her eyes wide with confusion, noticing him by the open window. "What're you doing!?" Her facing displaying an immense anger not proportionate to the situation.

That moment was all it took. Whiskey-Jack serving as the needed distraction for his father.

With a swing that sliced through the air, lightning fast, Erwin's axe came down with pinpoint accuracy.

In a single stroke, it severed his wife's head from her body, and rolled towards the middle of the room. Where Whiskey-Jack and his father's eyes met, feeling different emotions, one fear, the other relief.

The clean cut left a sickening silence in the room. Whiskey-Jack stood frozen in shock. But then, something unnatural happened. The eyes of his mother's head turned completely black, as if the very light had been absored from them.

Her body, still lying lifeless on the floor, began to emanate a dark aura.

Then, with a sickening crack, her head lifted itself upright, letting out a blood-curdling scream.

"KILL HIM!" the head shrieked, the voice piercing their eardrums.

Her body, now filled with unnatural strength, came alive, spinning toward Erwin. The small, lifeless figure of what had once been his wife attacked him savagely, pushing Erwin's large muscular frame into the wall behind him.

"GET OUT OF HERE!" Erwin shouted, barely able to hold his ground against the body.

The head turned toward Whiskey-Jack, and before he could react, began rolling towards him at a frightening speed.

Whiskey-Jack's instincts kicked in. He managed to leap through the window just in time, landing safely outside. Muskrat was already a few paces ahead, but Whiskey-Jack quickly ran past, grabbing his hand and yanked him into the forest.

"What's happening?" Muskrat sobbed, his voice shaking.

"I don't know… but we need to get as far away as possible," Whiskey-Jack replied, his voice determined, though inside, he was ready to collapse.
