Two Options

Diego fluttered his eyes open softly,He stretched, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep in his eyes, he swung his legs off the bed and stood stretching his arm,That was when his phone began to vibrate on the bedside table startling him.

Glancing at the screen, Diego's confusion turned to dread as he saw his father's name flashing ominously on the screen, he reached for his phone to decline the call, but then hesitated. He knew his father well—this was not a call that would simply resolve itself. With a decisive hand, he swiped the screen to reject the call, but the tension in his gut only tightened.

Moments later, the phone buzzed again. It was a text message from his father: **"Come back home right this moment in the next 20 minutes. I swear I will inform the board directors to withdraw any legal right you ever had in the company."**

A chill shot down Diego's spine. When had his father resorted to threats? The gravity of the situation was undeniable, and it triggered him.He could not afford to let this escalate any further. The fear of losing everything he had worked for clashed with the anger he had been harboring for his father's.

He grabbed his clothes, hastily pulling on his shirt and pants, He couldn't let his father control him or dictate his choices. Yet, at the same time, he understood the stakes involved.

Diego walked out from the hotel room down the hall, the elevator felt like it took an eternity to reach the ground floor. When the doors finally slide open, he dashed toward the parking lot.

He threw himself into the driver's seat, slammed the door closed.

Diego backed out of the parking space and sped down the street, series of thoughts crashing through him.Was he really going to let his father dictate his life? The very idea made him boil.

Then suddenly he received another text, but this time from Diana.

"Come over To My House,I Need To Talk, Don't Waste My Time It's Urgent".

Diego Heart dropped right this instant,he was trying to get home all because of his father dreadful threat, "Why,just why, did she have to text him now" he thought.

Diego quickly parked the car contemplating if he should reverse back to Diana house or just keep driving and face her fury later,he felt so trapped in deciding between these two options .

Running his hand over his head,he gripped the steering driving forward.

"I'm sorry Diana, but I can't loose what I've worked so hard to build" he thought speeding the car.

Diego looked outside the window biting his lip,he finally reached home stepping out from the car,he dashed him walking through the entrance.

"He opened the door and the sight that welcomed him next, left him stunned.

"Honey, come in and say Hi to your fiance" his mother chimed in waving her hand.

There, Congressman Kenneth Sat along side his wife, Lucia on the other hand sat close to her mom,a wide grin plastered on her face as she stared at Diego with lust.

Without saying a greeting he walked straight to his father leaning over he whispered to his dad ears.

"I'll love to speak with you right this instant" Diego uttered walking upstairs.

"Uh, excuse me for a moment" Raymond said with a smile

Diego burst into his room with his dad walking after him.

"Now what the hell is going on down there" Diego ranted angrily.

"That's Congressman Kenneth and his family, your fiance is down there, and you should be getting ready,so what's the problem" his dad responded.

"Dad, I'm losing my mind, can you just stop all this" Diego screamed tugging his hair hard.

"Hey, listen up" Raymond said holding his face forcefully.

"Don't you dare think about messing things up,go in the damn bathroom and freshen up, your fiance is waiting" his dad said.

"You said we were having this during the evening" Diego managed to reply.

"Well,Mr Kenneth had some few appointments during the evening" his dad explained.

"Now get ready and don't mess things up" his dad continued letting go of his face forcefully.

He walked out with the door closing behind him.

"Please don't tell me this is happening" Diego muttered closing his eyes.

"This is the end of it, Diana we could have averted this,if only you'd accept my proposal, now I guess I'm not in the position to control the situation l" he thought walking to the bathroom.

He took his bath, grabbing his pants and a white long sleeve, putting on his clothes he walked downstairs.

Diego stood at the top of the staircase, He could hear the sounds of breakfast preparations going on,With a deep breath, he reluctantly steeled himself and stepped down the stairs, each step feeling heavier than the last.

He strode into the dining room, where his family was already seated around the grand dining table, a testament to their wealth and status.

His eyes scanned the table for a place to sit but the only available seat was right beside Lucia, Diego felt irritation flare within him at the mere thought of sharing a meal with her.

Reluctantly, he walked around the table and took the chair next to Lucia. As he settled in, his jaw tightened. He could feel her gaze on him, a blend of curiosity and perhaps sympathy. Rather than offering any comfort, her presence only added to his frustration. What was he supposed to say to her?

"Good morning, Diego!" Lucia chirped, her tone overly cheerful. She was dressed impeccably, as always, her hair neatly styled and her eyes shining with what Diego could only assume was an optimism he currently lacked.

"Morning," he mumbled in response, turning his attention to the plate of food before him. Thick slices of bacon lay crisp against a bed of scrambled eggs, but his appetite was nowhere to be found.

Across the table, his father, Raymond, surveyed them with a satisfied expression. After a moment of tension, Raymond's voice cut through the air. "Diego, you know, since this is quite the occasion, why don't you consider taking Lucia out after breakfast,You could get to know her better."

Diego's heart sank, and a surge of irritation bubbling in.

He shot a glance at Lucia, who was watching him expectantly, her eyes sparkling with interest, as if this proposition was a thrilling opportunity rather than an imposition.

"I mean, isn't that what everyone does these days?" Raymond pressed, a slight edge of urgency creeping into his tone.

"Of course, the engagement is in two weeks, they need know their likes and dislikes" Mr Kenneth chimed in with a little smile on his face.

Diego clenched his jaw, feeling trapped.

He was trying so hard to act normal, but here his dad was, adding more fuel to fire burning inside him.
