After leaving Dr. Octavius's lab, Su Ye originally planned to return to the bar to continue resting and catch a few more hours of sleep.
Sharon Carter had been resting all day and should be fully recovered—ready to get back to some "wild riding."
However, Harry dragged him to Oscorp Tower, insisting he should inspect some projects there. As a shareholder, Su Ye was asked to see if there were any areas that could be streamlined or integrated.
Su Ye couldn't exactly refuse.
Recently, Su Ye had heard from his butler, Alfred, that Old Su was quietly buying more Oscorp stock, aiming to increase his personal stake back to 10%.
Su Ye was puzzled—where did Old Su get all that money?
And why was Old Su buying so much Oscorp stock? Did he actually plan to turn Oscorp into Su Enterprises?
Either way, as a major shareholder and the son of an even larger one, it was Su Ye's duty to inspect the company.
"I heard you brought a hot secretary to the office a few days ago?" Harry raised an eyebrow at Su Ye in the car.
Sharon Carter's smoking figure was even more fitting for action than Mary Jane's; even a blind man could see she was a perfect ride.
Harry was secretly pleased—Su Ye had finally aligned his taste with his own. This was what he called brotherly synergy.
Su Ye didn't deny it. "She's a college student who hasn't graduated yet and needed a job. I happened to have a spot, so I helped her out."
Harry's grin turned mischievous. "And did you satisfy her?"
Su Ye crossed his arms and gave Harry a kingly sneer. "Went into the room at 11 p.m. last night, didn't sleep till morning, and she was still out when I left. What do you think?"
"So you're saying… more than six hours?" Harry was astonished. "I usually can't even last an hour."
"Pfft," Su Ye shook his head. "Didn't MJ get you some herbal pills? If not, I could recommend a brand."
"They say that even a man in his seventies could father a hundred kids in three years with this stuff."
"Herbal what pills? I don't need that stuff. It's not that I can't keep going; it's that MJ can't handle it, okay?" Harry rolled his eyes, looking exasperated at Su Ye.
"Then what did you think amazed me? It wasn't you—it was your secretary. Six hours? I don't know how she managed. She's got stamina!"
Su Ye shrugged. Sharon Carter, being a trained agent with a solid frame, could obviously handle more than Mary Jane.
Still, those six hours weren't all endurance—Sharon had to resort to various tactics, using her hands, feet, and even persuasion. Otherwise, she might not have lasted beyond two hours.
Car enthusiasts know that American cars have a solid build, bright headlights, smooth acceleration, reliable handbrakes, and soft seats. As long as you manage the throttle rhythm and step on the gas hard, you'll have the most comfortable driving experience with plenty of endurance.
However, the fuel consumption might be high, and the noise level during operation can be loud. When parking, you must handle the steering wheel carefully, or you might get shaken off the car.
"By the way, there's a yacht party coming up. No MJ or Gwen—if you know what I mean," Harry said, attempting to corrupt Su Ye once again.
Su Ye raised an eyebrow. "Will there be anyone on par with my secretary?"
Harry frowned slightly. "You think that level is as common as cabbage? But don't worry, I won't bring any plain Janes. They'll all be smoking hot, at least MJ's caliber."
"Then forget it," Su Ye declined. MJ-level wasn't his type, and he had no interest in cleaning up after others' messes.
"That's a shame…"
As they chatted, the car soon arrived at Oscorp Tower, and Su Ye once again clipped on his fake intern badge under the alias "Snake Zhang."
"You're still using that fake badge? I thought you'd ditched it long ago."
Harry shook his head and led the way to the elevator, followed by a few secretaries and assistants. Su Ye, posing as an intern, quietly trailed behind them.
Oscorp Tower was a tall building with over a hundred floors, filled with various labs and R&D departments. It would take more than a day to thoroughly inspect each floor.
Therefore, they chose to focus on a few key projects, including Dr. Connors' Cross-Species Genetics Lab.
On the way, Su Ye unexpectedly ran into Max Dillon.
"Hey, Max!" Su Ye caught up and greeted him.
"Hey, Snake!" Max Dillon responded enthusiastically. "Haven't seen you in a few days. How's it going?"
"Just interning," Su Ye said, pointing to his intern badge.
"Oh, then how about grabbing a drink after work?" Max invited. As a loner, he longed for companionship, even if it was just with an intern.
Su Ye shrugged, shaking his head with some regret. "I'm not even 20 yet. Can't drink."
"No worries. I know a bar that doesn't check IDs. Leave it to me," Max said with a grin.
Su Ye nodded. "Alright then. Let's hope I don't get stuck with overtime later."
Max chuckled. "Nah, interns don't get overtime. It's us old-timers who aren't so lucky."
After laughing, Max suddenly felt an urge to cry. It wasn't about seniority—it was about how marginalized employees had no rights.
Who could understand the struggles of a marginalized veteran employee?
After exchanging a few words, the two parted ways. Su Ye caught up with Harry's group and headed toward Dr. Connors' lab.
When they entered the lab, Dr. Connors and his team, including Gwen, were anxiously awaiting the results of a critical experiment. No one spoke, and the only sound was the AI system announcing updates from the simulation.
"Gene implantation!"
"Experiment initiated!"
"Awaiting results!"
"Failure. Test subject deceased."
"Awaiting results. Failure!"
"Awaiting results. Failure!"
...
Su Ye quietly moved closer to Gwen and softly greeted her. She smiled at him but didn't speak.
Although it was just a computer simulation with no real-life test subjects dying, the continuous failures still made the lab's atmosphere heavy.
Finally, after countless failures, the notification tone changed.
"Peptide program accepted!"
"Regeneration complete!"
"Physical characteristics normal. Regeneration complete!"
"Test subject's vital signs are stable!"
Meanwhile, the simulation displayed a mouse quickly regenerating its severed limb, looking around and moving as if alive.
"Yes! It worked!"
The lab erupted in cheers, and Gwen, ecstatic, turned and leaped onto Su Ye, wrapping her legs around his waist and planting a kiss on him.
American girls expressed their feelings directly, leaving Su Ye no room to adjust his stance as he struggled with some "pressure."
In this kind of setting, a kiss wasn't a big deal—especially in such an open society. If they were really in the mood, well, they'd just need to find a private spot.
As Su Ye was about to adjust himself, that peculiar connection between him and Gwen suddenly flared up without warning.
Gwen got so into the moment that she lost track of where they were.
Su Ye wasn't about to put on a public display, but he didn't want to dampen Gwen's mood either. He gently set her down and pretended to check her forehead.
"Huh, you're burning up! Come on, let's get you to a hospital, quick!"
With that, the two hurriedly slipped out of the lab and headed straight for the nearest restroom.
Back in the lab, Harry, as a corporate leader, enthusiastically praised Dr. Connors for his perseverance and encouraged him to keep pushing forward, aiming to apply the simulation results to real organisms soon.
He was about to ask Su Ye for his thoughts on the experiment when he turned and noticed that Su Ye was gone. A quick glance confirmed Gwen was missing too.
At that moment, Harry suddenly felt defeated.
Su Ye had mentioned battling all night and only getting some rest in the morning, and now he had disappeared with Gwen. Alone together? Did that even need guessing?
But Su Ye's stamina was off the charts. Was the enhancement from his spider DNA really that overpowered?
By the time Su Ye and Gwen emerged from the restroom, night had fallen. Most employees had already left the building, leaving only a few on duty and security personnel.
Inside the restroom stall, they had to keep quiet. While it was thrilling, it wasn't fully satisfying. They decided to head to the rooftop under the cover of darkness to find a more secluded spot.
As for the drinking plan with Max Dillon, that would have to wait for another day.
"By the way, Dr. Connors' experiment has made sudden progress lately—your doing, right?"
Su Ye asked Gwen in the elevator.
"Of course!" Gwen lifted her chin proudly.
"I couldn't find the spider that bit us, so I tested some of my own blood to see if I could find anything unique. And guess what? I did…"
As she spoke, a sudden explosion echoed from outside, shaking the elevator.
"What happened?"
Startled, Gwen turned to the elevator's screen and asked the AI system.
Oscorp Tower was equipped with AI systems throughout, functioning like virtual assistants such as XiaoDu or Alexa, allowing voice commands and interactions.
After Gwen's query, the AI quickly responded.
"Power Department, Bio-Energy Lab. An anomaly caused an explosion; one employee injured."
The elevator soon stopped at the Power Department floor. As the doors opened, Su Ye and Gwen rushed toward the explosion site.
The Bio-Energy Lab specialized in converting bioenergy into electrical power, a cutting-edge, eco-friendly energy project.
The lab housed massive tanks containing large and aggressive electric eels.
When they arrived, one of the massive tanks had shattered, scattering glass shards everywhere. Dozens of electric eels flopped on the floor.
Among the eels and shattered glass lay a person.
"Identify the injured!" Gwen shouted.
The AI promptly responded, "Power Department, Engineer, Max Dillon."
"Max Dillon?"
Hearing the name, Su Ye was stunned.
Wasn't Max Dillon's birthday still a few days away? How did the timeline suddenly accelerate?
"You know him?" Gwen noticed the unusual tone in Su Ye's voice.
"Yeah, I met him before. We ran into each other today, and he even invited me for drinks tonight," Su Ye explained.
Soon, security personnel arrived and quickly took control of the scene. Meanwhile, board members in charge of crisis management and public relations were en route.
Incidents like this were classified as safety accidents. If mishandled, they could severely damage the company's reputation and even impact its stock and market value.
For a conglomerate of Oscorp's size, even a one-point fluctuation could mean billions of dollars.
And that included money from both Su Ye and Old Su.
