"Why didn't you tell me about your brothers?" Navier asked at long last after they bid his brothers goodbye.
They were all alone now, in the library where he had decided to visit before calling it a night, but she followed him; refusing to be made a fool of for the second time that day- especially by him none the less.
"You didn't ask." He remarks, leaving her speechless.
"Mr Millianaire, if I recall correctly, you're the one who told me to stay out of your business. Since I'm not allowed to ask, aren't you the one responsible to keep me informed?"
He looked at her from where he was seated, an unusual calmness lurking behind his green eyes. "I didn't think it necessary." Was his nonchalant response, which left her fuming mad.
Surprisingly enough, the lady started off with a scoff, it wasn't loud enough to cause an irritation- even if it did, she wouldn't care either way.
"You didn't think it necessary to inform me?" She ironically utters, sweet mockery dripping from her voice as she stood staring at him.
'The audacity of this man.'
The anger and frustration she'd been bottling up since the last few days of her stay there started to creep in. "Your brothers would've seriously gotten injured or worse, because you didn't think it necessary."
"And I would've--" Navier halted in mid-sentence, thinking to herself.
'Oh, wait. He wouldn't even care if I died, as long as he gets what he wants, its always business with him.' For some reason, her heart ached due to the sudden reality.
'We are after all in a contractual relationship. Even if I were to die now, he would still clean up the mess and find himself someone compatible with the role.'
"A lot of things would've gotten out of hand, just because you thought it was best not to share."
To Aiden's amusement, Navier wasn't done with her scolding, "How do you expect me to perform marvelously, when you won't even tell me anything?"
"It's not like I'm a threat to you, you already know so much about me than I do about you." She pinpoints clearly displeased.
'I don't even know anything about you. This is so unfair.' Navier ceased her rants when she saw how Aiden stared at her; surprise and amusement dancing hand-in-hand as though she had lost her sanity.
Navier unconsciously bit at her lips, annoyance and anger bobbling up with every ticking sound that filled the quiet room. The lady turned on her heels ready to leave that toxic site before he's deep soothing voice filled the air, freezing her at the spot.
"I apologize for the inconvenience you went through." From the way he offered his apology, it sounded like words he never really used during his dealings with others.
'Typical billionaire.' Navier turned to face him again, her hands folded in defence. "For what?"
Aiden sighs, before approaching. "For not telling you about my siblings."
Navier asks again. "And?"
"That's it." He deadpans. "But I will make it up to you." He offers.
"This is not a bargain Mr Millianaire. You owe me a favor." Navier challenged back, clearly unshaken by his presence.
"Lots of them." She corrects, leaving the man amused at how fast her attitudes change with the speed of light.
They stared at each other, the atmosphere around them quite intense. She looked into his green orbs and he looked into hers, before agreeing. "Whatever you say, Orange." He quipped with a grin.
Navier finally broke the eye contact, as she walked away. "Next time, warn me before I start knocking your family members out."
Aiden could only watch as she left, completely fascinated by her. An abrupt laugh escaped his lips after her threatful words.
He never expected she'd be that kind of woman to confront him like that. She never showed that fiery spirit to her. There was only a handful of things he knows about her as well, because he didn't want to cross the line either.
He laughed so hard that it almost felt surreal. Drawing in a breath after it ceased, shortly. As soon as he took a sit, running his long fingers through his jet-black hair.
'What an intriguing woman you are, Navier Romanoff.' Now staring at the library's closed door, could only muse in his mind.
Aiden mumbles a grin sitting on his face. "I wonder how surprising you can get."
THE NEXT DAY
Aiden walks out of his room, only to be received by a mouthwatering smell that erupted from the kitchen, leaving him to ponder on who was responsible for such a display.
'Mary is never this early in the morning.' This left him with one objective. Aiden descended the stairs, already dressed and prepared to leave, when he saw her parading the kitchen as though she lived in it.
He watched as she sliced spices, her legs jamming to the rhythm. Aiden didn't miss the way she hummed to the tune that buzzed from her phone. She didn't even feel his presence- just emerged in her own world.
The part that got him amused was when she started singing along. "why you always in the mood? Messing 'round acting brand new."
Aiden's eyes widened in surprise. Navier still didn't seem to notice him leaning on the door frame. He kept watching as she danced, waving her hands about like she was catching something invincible that he couldn't see. He was having fun watching her.
Consequently as soon as Navier spun around towards his direction, her whole body froze as their eyes met midway in the kitchen. Her mouth and eyes widened, as though about to fall from their sockets, the spoon she held slipped from her hold due to the gravity of the shock.
'She looks like a deer caught in headlight.' he almost laughed at how accurate his thoughts were with the current situation.
The cunny man greets ironically, whilst leaning on the door frame. "Good morning to you too." His voice coated in mischief.
"How long were you standing there?" Navier ignored his greetings, her voice barely came out a whisper, already aware they weren't genuine. The only thing genuinely at stake right then, was her reputation.
Aiden smirked, his greens eyes shining in mischief. "Long enough to see your personal ostentation?"
He was teasing her, and that was just what she was avoiding, now she can kiss her sanity and composure goodbye.
"How much did you see?" Navier carefully asked, not looking at him for the fear of dying from embarrassment.
'Just why does he always get to catch me in my most embarrassing moments?' She lightly gripped the side of her apron, heat already rising, tainting her face. Surely things weren't fair when it came to her favor.
"Hmm...?" Aiden hums, evidently amused despite her current situation she still wanted to know. "You really want to know that?"
"Yes." Navier's voice came out, barely a whisper, staring at the slippers that compassed her feet, like they were worth more intriguing than what she intended to hear.
Her heart skipped a beat when she heard him laugh, and his thudding steps followed suit, now standing in front of her. Navier dared not to look up, for she might regret it later.
But the lady flinched, clearly startled when she felt his cold fingers lift her chin as to meet his gaze.
Navier's breath caught in her throat where they stood so close that she got a whiff of the cologne he wore. "From the moment you started dancing," he utters.
Clearly he wasn't done, "then to the singing. I saw it all." He answers, his words unfiltered as he enjoyed the expression he coaxed out of her. They amused him.
Navier briskly turned her face away, pushing his hand away from her face. "Aren't you supposed to be at work?"
The anticipation in her voice for him to leave only further amused him. "Why are you here?"
"Someone really important to me is going to walk through those doors, today." There were no hint of mischief in his voice anymore.
"She can be really annoying when she wants to be, and often comes out too strong, but don't let it bother you."
'why is he suddenly lecturing me as if I'm about to head into the battle field?' her heart started to palpitate louder than she intended almost certain of his next words.
"She also is, my mother."
