"Don't just stand there, come in," Judith said softly, beckoning to Tina, who timidly nodded and slowly advanced, like someone walking on a tightrope.
Tina's heart was pounding erratically in her chest as she observed the way Maria's eagle eyes scanned her from head to toe like an X-ray machine. She could tell the mature woman was greatly displeased with her dressing from her admonishing gaze.
Thankfully, aside from Maria's somewhat hostile look, and Amelia's unreadable expression, Judith and her husband were smiling at her.
Tina had barely gotten within fifteen feet of Amelia's bed when the latter's highly sensitive nostrils perceived something harsh, choking and unsettling.
Amelia's nose crinkled and her face scrunched at the strong and intoxicating smell coming from Tina. It felt as though she was doused in a blend of patchouli, and tonka bean with a hint of vanilla.
