Water Pump

With Midnight's help, Ranav finally managed to settle the wolf in a separate section of the stable. Originally, this section had only a waist-high iron door, but it had now been remodeled and fully enclosed for safety. Fortunately, the village blacksmith had been quick to craft a simple iron door by welding together iron bars. This setup ensured that the wolf was securely contained in case it became hostile, while still allowing ample ventilation through the gaps between the bars.

After everything was ready, Ranav decided to use Invigoration to heal the wolf in a single session. Since he and Jessica had already examined and confirmed the wolf's internal and external injuries, the healing process took only a few seconds. Once the wounds were completely healed, he placed a mana regeneration pill in the wolf's mouth, then stepped outside, securing the door firmly behind him.

As he did, Jessica spoke in his mind, "Although we've healed its physical wounds, there are lingering traces of corruption in its body. This will affect its runic proficiency. To fully cleanse it, we need to feed it Aetherleaf, a rare herb. According to my knowledge, Aetherleaf can only be found in ancient ruins, deep mountain regions, or untouched ancient forests. For now, we'll have to leave things as they are and hope we come across the herb someday."

Ranav sighed. "At least it's alive for now, and that's enough. If it can be tamed, I'll consider searching for the herb. But for now, I don't want to spend any extra money on it unnecessarily."

Jessica wasn't entirely convinced. "If the corruption remains in its body for too long, it will stunt its growth and could even shorten its lifespan."

Ranav shrugged. "That's not my concern for now. I'm already seeing my wallet bleeding just from feeding this creature meat every day. Did you see everyone's reaction when I brought it into the stable? They all think I've lost my mind."

Still conversing with Jessica in his mind, Ranav entered the house and found his entire family gathered at the dining table.

Naveena, his mother, looked at him with concern. "Ranav, are you sure about keeping that wolf? It looks dangerous."

Ranav reassured her, "Don't worry, Mom. I'm certain that it's a magical beast, not an ordinary wolf. If things go well, it could become a powerful guardian for our home. If it remains hostile, I'll get rid of it. But I have a feeling that being around Midnight, who is also a magical beast… will make the wolf want to stay. We just need to give it meat daily. Think of it as an investment. I can handle the expenses."

Trinav, his father, nodded thoughtfully. "I may not know much about magic, but if it's a magical beast, then it shouldn't pose a threat unless provoked. Alright, son. Do as you see fit. But be careful. We have workers on our property right now."

"I understand, Dad. I'll be cautious." He said reassuringly.

At that moment, two carriages arrived in front of their house. A man stepped out and informed them that they were delivering the steam engine. Ranav immediately stepped outside and recognized one of the engineers from his previous visit to the factory.

Upon seeing Ranav, the man's face lit up. He hurried over and gave a slight bow. "Good morning, Mr. Ranav. My name is Kaleb. I'm here to install the engine."

Ranav returned the bow. "Good morning, Kaleb. Please follow me… I'll show you where to set up the water pump."

He led Kaleb to the new house and pointed out the location where the engine would be placed. He also explained how the pipes would connect the pond and to the storage tank. Kaleb carefully followed Ranav's instructions and began the installation process.

It turned out that Kaleb and his team had come to Ranav's house first to complete a full setup and gain firsthand experience. They wanted to ensure everything was installed properly before heading to the Count's estate later that day to install a second unit.

After nearly an hour, the water pump was fully set up. Ranav started the steam engine, and soon, water began flowing into the storage tank. The loud, rhythmic hum of the machine immediately attracted the attention of the construction workers nearby.

Curious, they gathered around, eyes wide with fascination. Since Ranav had designed the system to be completely leak-proof, they couldn't tell what the machine was doing just from the noise alone.

One of the workers hesitantly approached. "Uh… What exactly is this machine doing?"

Ranav gestured toward Kaleb. "You can ask him."

Kaleb, who was prepared for such inquiries, smiled and stepped forward. Due to their agreement, he didn't reveal that Ranav was the true inventor of the machine. Instead, he explained, "This is a newly marketed product by Ispahani Corporation. It's a cutting-edge steam-powered water pump designed to supply water efficiently."

Hearing that it was a new product, the construction workers immediately became interested. Since they worked in building houses, they realized that such a device could be incredibly useful for future projects.

Just then, the water tank reached full capacity, and water gushed from the top ejection pipe, signaling that the system was functioning perfectly.

Ranav called out, "Open the taps inside the house! Let's check the water flow."

A few workers rushed inside and turned on the taps in the bathrooms. A moment later, excited voices rang out… water was flowing smoothly through all the taps!

The onlookers were astonished. Some even clapped in excitement, marveling at the efficiency of the new system.

Kaleb took this opportunity to promote the product, explaining how it could make life easier for households, businesses, and even farming communities. The workers, who were responsible for constructing new houses, eagerly listened, already imagining how they could recommend it to future customers.

After the workers dispersed, Kaleb handed Ranav a large case of high-quality coal for future use and then bid him farewell, heading toward the Count's estate for the next installation.

Once things settled down, Ranav called his family to test the new system. He carefully explained how to turn the steam engine on and off to refill the water tank, how to replace the coal case when needed and basic maintenance tips to keep the engine running smoothly.

His parents and sisters listened eagerly, thrilled to have running water in their home. As they took turns operating the system, the house filled with laughter and excitement.

His mother, Naveena, smiled warmly. "Ranav, this is incredible. You've made our home so much more convenient."

His father, Trinav, patted his shoulder. "I never imagined we'd have something like this. You've done well, son."

Even his sisters ran excitedly to test the taps, their eyes shining with delight.

Ranav grinned. "This is just the beginning. Once this system spreads, people won't have to haul water manually anymore. It'll change lives."

As the sunglow submerged the house in golden light, Ranav stood back and watched his family enjoying the results of his efforts.

"This… this is why I do this." He didn't need fame or recognition. Seeing his family happy was reward enough.
