Chapter 295: A Girl?
Feeling the chakra in his body fully replenished once more, Tonari nodded in satisfaction.
Right now, only Nine-Tails' immense chakra reserves could help him recover so quickly.
His Wood Release jutsu alone were massive chakra-consuming techniques. If he had only Two-Tails' chakra, it wouldn't be enough to freely use his Wood Release. But with Nine-Tails added to the mix, it was a completely different story.
After all—aside from Wood Release, he also had a Mangekyō Sharingan, which was an insatiable chakra glutton.
And if he awakened the Rinnegan in the future, his consumption would be even greater.
He didn't want to end up like Nagato, who was drained dry every time he used powerful techniques.
Tonari clenched his fist slightly.
"Now that my chakra has recovered, saving Kushina will be much easier."
He murmured to himself before vanishing instantly, reappearing at the location where Kushina lay unconscious.
Lingxiang, who had been completely drained of chakra earlier, had barely regained enough strength to move. She knelt beside Kushina, watching anxiously.
But she was too exhausted to help further.
Minato was also kneeling next to Kushina, both hands placed over her weakened abdomen, restoring the remains of her damaged seal.
Kushina looked even worse than in the original timeline.
If not for the faint rise and fall of her chest, others might have thought she was already gone.
Tonari frowned deeply.
"This isn't good. Her life force is draining too fast."
Minato noticed his return, hope rekindling in his eyes.
"Tonari! Did you find a way?" Minato asked urgently.
"Minato, no time to waste! Take us to where I fought Madara earlier. Your Flying Thunder God kunai is still there."
Minato's eyes shut briefly as he located the kunai's exact position.
"I found it! Hold on!"
The next second, they all vanished.
They reappeared at the massive crater left behind by Tonari's battle with Madara.
Aside from the sheer devastation in the area, one presence stood out—
The other half of Nine-Tails lay sprawled out in the crater, tongue lolling out, looking utterly defeated.
Seeing the gigantic fox, both Minato and Lingxiang stiffened.
"Tonari, is that…?"
"It's Nine-Tails. The other half of it."
Tonari and Lingxiang carefully helped Kushina lie down gently.
"Nine-Tails? Wait, Tonari—you're planning to seal it back into Kushina?!"
Minato's eyes brightened at the thought.
But then, just as quickly, doubt clouded his expression.
"Tonari, I thought about that too, but… the difficulty of doing that is too high…"
"Minato," Tonari cut in, "just because you can't do it doesn't mean I can't. Like Lingxiang said, I already prepared for this possibility."
Tonari pulled out a small vial and handed it to Minato.
It contained a special medicinal serum he had developed using Nagato's DNA and the Uzumaki Clan's unique vitality.
While anyone could theoretically benefit from it, the effects were most potent for someone of Kushina's Uzumaki lineage.
"This is only the first step. Inject this into her immediately to stabilize her body. Next, we bring Nine-Tails back into her."
Minato didn't hesitate. He took the syringe and gently injected the serum into Kushina's body.
Meanwhile, Tonari stepped toward the other half of Nine-Tails.
"Nine-Tails," he sighed.
"…I already apologized to your other half, but I owe you an apology too."
He clasped his hands together.
"Sage Art: Kokuan Nitten Suisho!"
A torrent of wooden bindings surged forth, coiling around the exhausted Nine-Tails.
Unlike before, this half didn't resist at all.
It merely lay still, as if completely giving up.
Tonari sealed it back into Kushina.
With Nine-Tails inside her again, Kushina's seal began to repair itself.
But her life force was still diminishing—albeit at a slower pace.
"Next, we have to stimulate Nine-Tails' chakra to restore her lost vitality…"
Tonari murmured.
"But I need a catalyst…."
His own chakra—combined with his Senju DNA and Nine-Tails' power—would serve as that catalyst.
He channeled a steady flow of chakra into Kushina's body.
Minato couldn't do it, but Tonari's Senju-enhanced chakra was perfectly suited to sustaining life force.
As he infused chakra into her, he also retrieved another syringe filled with light green liquid.
It contained pure Hashirama Senju's cells.
Nothing could restore lost vitality faster than Hashirama's DNA.
However, he didn't inject the cells directly.
Instead, he carefully regulated their release, using only the ambient life energy they emitted.
Finally—
Kushina's life force stopped draining.
Then—it began to slowly recover.
Lingxiang, the most sensitive to chakra fluctuations, gasped.
"She's… recovering!"
Minato's grip on Kushina's hand tightened, his eyes brimming with emotion.
Uzumaki physiology already gave strong self-healing abilities, but her body had been too damaged to recover properly.
Now, with Nine-Tails restored, Senju DNA enhancing her life force, and her own Uzumaki heritage kicking in—
She was finally out of danger.
Tonari exhaled deeply.
"That's enough. Any more exposure to the cells, and they'll become uncontrollable. The rest… Kushina must recover naturally."
He gripped Kushina's hand, drew his circular blade, and—
"Tonari!"
—sliced off her injured fingertip, which had absorbed Hashirama's cells.
Kushina winced in her unconscious state.
The severed finger hit the ground—and immediately sprouted into a massive tree.
"A girl shouldn't lose a finger—that'd be ugly."
Tonari muttered, activating—
"Secret Art: Creation Rebirth."
The missing finger regenerated instantly.
Seeing Kushina's breathing steady, Tonari smiled in satisfaction.
Lingxiang and Minato both collapsed onto the ground, relieved beyond words.
Lingxiang sobbed softly, holding Kushina's hand and looking at the sleeping baby in her arms.
"She's safe… Thank the heavens…"
Minato's eyes reddened, barely holding back tears.
Tonari, however, broke the emotional moment with a jab—
"Minato, are you crying?"
Minato sniffed, then laughed.
"Of course not."
"But Tonari… Thank you."
"Thank me?" Tonari smirked.
"I wasn't doing this for you. I was doing it for Kushina… and my adorable nephew."
But Minato and Lingxiang suddenly gave him strange looks.
"What…?"
Lingxiang wiped her tears and chuckled mischievously.
"Tonari… who said it was a nephew?"
"Naruto is a girl."
Tonari froze.
"…WHAT?!"
He was stunned speechless.
Minato patted his shoulder.
"Come on, Tonari, don't be old-fashioned. Boy or girl, we love them the same."
Tonari sighed.
"Girls are fine. I like girls better anyway."
But deep down—he knew.
This was no longer the same world he remembered.
This was a new story entirely.
