Chapter 32

"Cici? You feeling okay?" the manager asked, concern etched on his face.

I was lost in deep thoughts when I heard the manager's voice. This was the first time he had joined me for my shift and he was in charge of the bar counter. Kristoff, my partner for the day was absent, preoccupied with the contest he was competing in.

I couldn't help but sigh internally. This guy is surprisingly perceptive.

"I'm fine manager, I'm just a little dizzy because of this hot weather tonight."

"Is that so? Make sure to eat properly then."

Didn't he hear me? I had just told him I was experiencing the effects of the oppressive heat, not malnutrition! I nodded, not bothering to talk with him anymore and returned to cleaning and inspecting the products on each shelves.

Minutes passed, when he broke the silence once more.

"Speaking of which, I'm guessing that you can see ghosts now?"

I froze, he really has a scary perception.
