Ezekiel showed no indication of waking up. After all, he had been in this state for a whole day. No way he would wake up normally so I tried to do everything in my power to keep him alive.
"Ezekiel wake up you sleeping bastard!" I shouted, performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
No response.
I stubbornly pressed on. "Don't forget you still have to pay me for rescuing you here!" I continued, though panic was starting to creep into my voice.
Suddenly, I felt something tickling against my forehead. I instinctively swatted it away and continued my efforts to wake Ezekiel. But it returned, brushing against my skin again. When I swatted at it more aggressively, I felt something wet and hairy.
Looking up, I was confronted by a long-haired woman sitting on a branch of the tree above me. Her hollowed eyes locked onto mine, and her mouth was disgustingly ripped open.
