Have you ever felt like you're in limbo—but not really in one?

My brain's activity was not in sync with my body.

My body refused to cooperate.

I could hear muddled voices, but my mind was too lazy to discern them—or what they were saying.

I might have lost consciousness again, because the next time my brain registered activity around me, my body cooperated.

My eyes opened, albeit with difficulty, taking in my new and unfamiliar environment. What shocked me to the core was the fact that I was lying on a comfortable bed.

I jerked up so quickly I nearly hit my head on the headboard, looking around frantically, as if searching for something—though I wasn’t even sure what.

Out of reflex, I tried flexing my fingers. They were totally fine.

Still, I couldn’t shake the ominous feeling in my gut.

Something wasn’t right—but I couldn’t pinpoint what.

Looking around, I felt a wave of familiarity wash over me. Yet, like before, I couldn’t place the feeling.
