Rachel POV
The age-old remedy for a troubled mind: retail therapy. It had been two excruciating weeks since Aderemi last set foot in our home. Two weeks of unrelenting anguish. Two weeks of torture Two weeks of yearning for him with every fiber of my being. The ache had begun to take a physical toll on me, and I knew I needed to break free from the suffocating cycle of tears and solitude. So, when Joy mentioned it was time to go grocery shopping, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to distract myself from the emotional turmoil that had been consuming me.
As I wandered down the aisle of the supermarket, I remembered trying to convince Joy to let me go and after persuasion, she eventually gave in to my plea. Maybe seeing the state I was in was why she eventually gave it, I might never know.
When she eventually accepted my plea, I quickly made a call through to my best friend Mary, so she could be my companion because I wasn't about to either go alone or go with Joy.
