Aurora

"Luna! Where are you going?"

Theo’s voice rang out behind me, urgent and commanding. Before I could take another step, his strong hand wrapped around my wrist, halting my escape.

"Let me go, Theo!" My voice cracked as I turned to him, my eyes pleading. "I don’t want to stay here. Please."

He hesitated, his expression torn between duty and sympathy. "I can’t do that, Luna," he said, his voice softer now, almost apologetic. "The Alpha will be furious."

The mere mention of him sent a sharp pain lancing through my chest.

"Your Alpha?" I spat, shaking with rage. "Your Alpha doesn’t give a damn about me being his mate! He didn’t even bother coming to see me in the infirmary! And now—" My voice wavered as the gut-wrenching image resurfaced. "Now he’s sitting there with some other woman draped all over him!"

My hands curled into fists at my sides. "Do I look like a fool to you? Am I supposed to stand by and just accept this? Pretend it doesn’t hurt?"
