Chapter 19

He held my hand as he helped me out of the car. I stare at him, then I look away, afraid of those eyes and how they pull me in.

"Did you have a good time darling?'' He smiles, an action I thought he was incapable of.

"I loved it.'' I smiled too. He had taken me on a date. Funny enough, he'd kept his earlier promise and taken me on an overdue lunch date to a nice restaurant. But instead of talking, he ended up swamped with calls. He almost broke a waiter's hand. The waiter had judged me for being an omega. All this didn't mean I was going to forgive or accept him. I was going to run away the second I got the chance. I couldn't trust my mate, not the cruelty of his lycan form or his ever flipping temper.

"Why are they all staring at me so much?'' I mumbled under my breath, staring down as I walked beside my mate.

"Would you like me to slaughter them darling? Aurelio, here..''

"What? No! No.'' I touched his hand as I pulled him down, trying to stop this madness. "What iis with you? You can't just go around killing people.''

"For you, darling, I can do anything.'' He gripped my waist and leaned down to kiss me passionately. For a moment iI was taken a back, shocked. But i recovered for a moment and kissed him back. His hands were firm on my body. The feel of his lips on mine felt like electricity. I don't know what it was about it, and how he was able to control me with such easy.He pulled away, smiling at my shyness. "I can't wait to watch that innocent expression on your face gone the second my cock slides into the sweet nectar that is your pussy.''

I clenched my thighs, unable to stop myself from gasping. He didn't even react, it was as if saying such a thing was casual.

One of his men, whom by now I'd realized was named Aurelio, rushed up to him. His hand didn't leave my waist as he leaned back to hear what Aurelio was saying. I couldn't concentrate on anything else. I could only think of the feel of his body heat and how his body was stuck to mine. It was as if he wanted us to mate right there.

"I have to cut this short darling,'' he carrresed my cheek then he pulled away.

"What..What's wrong?'' I tried to hide the worry behind my voice but I couldn't. For whatever strange reason, I worried for him, even though he was a 6'9 Lycan beast which unimaginable strength and power, I still worried.

"Your first mate is here.'' he shrugs his shoulder, and before I can say anything, I feel him. Alpha Matthew's scent was one I could easily distinguish. It wasn't about the betrayal or how he tried to hurt me, it was because he was my mate once, before he rejected me. While he tethered our bond, that first connected takes a while to fully cut.

"He's here.'' I let out, touching my stomach, feeling sick. Lucas looks at me, his expression tenses as his mood changes .

"It insults me that you're more afraid of him when I'm with you. You know I'd never let anything happen to you.'' I look up at him and can almost see his struggle. He doesn't want his Lycan to come out.

I try to say something, but I can't. I have nothing to say.

"Elara!'' A voice i thought I'd never hear again calls out for my name. My heart jumps, and It almost feels as though I'm scared to breaath. I turn around , only to meet the eyes of Alpha Matthew. "Missed me?'' He cooes, and I can hear Lucas growling at my side. I turn to look at him, i touch his harm, hoping it brings any soothing relief but it doesn't. He was angry.

"Lycan King Lucas Morretti, I have to say, it's quite an honour to meet you again.'' He smiles as he moves to shake Lucas hand. I dont know what's going to happen, and even Lucas guards who are around us seem to hold their breath as they watch.

"Matters of bloodshed are handled outside pack territories, Mr. Matthew. They are not allowed inside my pack, and certainly not near my mate." He spoke in a low, vicious voice. I knew that he chose not to address Mathhew by his Alpha title on purpose. Lucas did not believe he deserved it. Not just Matthew, but all wolves in genrral. Lucas was a proud beast who got off on vicious unnecesary killing, and right now, his eyes said it all.

"Bloodshed? I thought we were discussing our shared interests.'' Matthew was pushing his buttons. And he did so shamelessly.

"Alpha Matthew, my mate and I, we..''

"We?'' Matthew laughs as he looks up at Lucas. "You allow her to speak on your behalf?'' Lucas slowly stepped foward, his eyes were fully turned a golden color. His wolf, was fast on the way.

"Son!'' His father sprints from the packhouse to us. He rushes to us before Lucas can reach for Matthew. "I hate to step on your toes, but I believe Alpha Matthew here didn't come all this way jjust to get killed. He must have something important to tell us.''

"Woe unto him father, he will die where he stands.'' Lucas took an imposing step forward. I watch Matthew take three steps back, almost falling on his butt. I'd never seen an Alpha afraid of anyone or anything. I hate to think what happened between them when Lucas went hunting for him before.

"Son please,'' Lucas father gathers, even though he keeps a reasonable distance from my mate. Lucas turns to me instead, ignoring his father's presence completely.

"Elara, do you think he deserves a few breaths to state his case?'' The question was real. The air was tense. But that's not what shocked me.

What surprised me most was that his eyes while asking me this were fully golden. So, I wasn't talking to Lucas, I was talking to the wolf. the Lycan.

Does that mean the wolf was finally accepting me?

"Yes.'' I shook my head, fighting the urge to trip over my words. I didn't want Alpha Matthew to die, even though he was a terrible man, he did not deserve the cruel deaths that my mate gave.

"Very well,'' Lucas speaks. Before my eyes, his wolf retracts and his eyes return to their normal color. It makes it seem like he's always been in control.

"This is not mercy I show you, this courtesy. Because I have a weak mate who believes in kindness over anything. Rest assured, though. Your beating heart will be in my fingers the instant I feel you are irrelevant.''

We walk into the pack house, the entire compound is silent. It feels as If we're walking to a funeral, but the question was, who was going to die?
