Chapter 38

Elara's POV

The rays of the sun filtered through the curtains, burning my face. I opened my eyes, looking around. My head throbbed, every heartbeat sent waves of pain through my temples. How long have I been here? The last thing I remember was my shower with Lucas. After that, nothing.

When I attempted to raise my head from the pillow, the world started spinning around me like a ship in a storm as soon as I moved. My nightdress stuck to my body, drenched in sweat, making me even more uncomfortable. I looked at the pitcher of water on the bedside table, yet the idea of grabbing it seemed incredibly daunting. My arms and legs felt too heavy, and my body wasn't willing to work with me. My eyes closed once more, too exhausted to continue resisting.
