Chapter 59

Elara’s POV

“So,” Sabrina started, a hint of amusement in her voice, “you just… forced open my door?” She let out a low chuckle, shaking her head. “Elara, that door wasn’t unlocked. It takes a pretty strong shove to get that thing open if it’s jammed.”

I shifted uncomfortably, trying to downplay it. “I don’t know… I guess I was just…I don’t know”

Sabrina tilted her head, studying me with a serious expression. “Maybe you’re getting stronger.” Her gaze was sharp, almost searching, and I felt a nervous flutter in my stomach. It was both exciting and daunting to think I might have some hidden strength I didn’t even know about.

I swallowed, glancing down. “I don’t want to be weak,” I admitted quietly. “I don’t want to be that helpless girl anymore, the one everyone thinks they can push around or ignore. I need to learn how to defend myself.”
