Chapter 83

Lucas’ POV

The air reeked of blood. I didn’t hesitate as the witches closed in. My focus stayed on Sabrina. She wasn’t moving as fast as she should. The silver wound from earlier was taking its toll.

She swung her blade at one of them, but her balance was off. The witch blocked the strike and moved in to attack. I stepped in before she could land a blow, tearing through her chest.

“Sabrina, fall back,” I said, keeping my tone firm.

She shot me a glare. “I’m fine.”

“You’re not,” I said. “Step back.”

I didn’t wait for her response. Five of them rushed me at once. I moved to meet them. My fist connected with the first, breaking her jaw. Another came at my side with a blade aimed for my ribs. I grabbed her wrist and drove my knee into her abdomen.

The next tried to attack from behind, but I turned and caught her mid-strike. My claws sank into her shoulder as I threw her into another charging at me.

I glanced at Sabrina. She was struggling, clutching her side, unsteady.
