To begin his journey of getting those enticing, sweet rebate and cashbacks, Miles decided it was time for some shopping in one of the grandest malls in town.
The mall he had in mind was so huge, located in the most beautiful district in the city that was owned by very wealthy men. Many brands of all kinds of products and goods sold their best and original wares there. Miles was determined to get the best clothes today for him and his brother.
Not only that, he'd meet a tailor that would tailor the clothes to fit him just perfectly. After all, humans had different body shapes and sizes than just big, medium and small. And to become a very successful, wealthy and business man, wearing clothes that fit him without any sagginess and discomfort would help exude the necessary aura and confidence to channel a life of financial pursuit and freedom.
Aware of his brother, Miles dropped him in one of the libraries he often visited, keeping him in the custody of the grand librarian, who had been always good to him. The aged lady accepted Charlie, with open arms, who also hugged her tightly.
This wasn't the first time Miles had brought Charlie to the library. Countless times when he needed to run some extra errands without risking taking his brother to the hands of his venomous aunt, Miles would drop him here until he returned.
Most of the time, Charlie would be asleep after the grand librarian had given him some snacks to eat. Miles was really thankful for her and he had hoped he'd pay her one day.
Fortunately, he was a very rich man now. And he promised himself once he returned to see Charlie in good condition, he'd settle the old lady hugely.
"Miles, you don't come for club sessions anymore. What's wrong? Are you too busy with work? Too much work?"
Miles nodded at the grand librarian's question. Her name was Mrs. Anul, and with her team and other people who wandered into the library, they always helped each other to read books of all kinds of genre and discussed what they've learnt.
Miles loved reading books, but he'd have to make a lot of time for more pressing activities like school for example; reading his textbooks and notes—books that'd actually help him.
So, as school became tougher, the timetables, clustered, Miles' visit to the city's library grew seldom week by week.
"Don't worry, ma," he said with a warm smile. "I'll do my best to make out a day at least every week."
"Okay, dear."
Miles waved to Charlie one last time before he exited the library, hopped onto his bike and rode fast but carefully down the road toward the Vena District.
The district was a large venue, almost like a city of its own with nice bedded flowers, tarred pathways and streets, huge and buildings with regal, rich people fielding the area to buy something.
This was the kind of place only the rich came to in order to spend their money on fancy things and not things they really need. However, Miles was here to buy original, long lasting clothes for him and his brother.
He drove his bike further in and parked near to a shrub. He inspected the beauty of the mall before he silently walked in, greeting the huge, six feet five security guard that stood at the doors.
The security guard did not return his greeting, but he did offer a short nod as a gesture he had already been accustomed to.
He studied Miles as he entered the mall with zero confidence when compared to the other visitors. Who was the young boy and what would he be doing here without wealthy parents in flashy suits and heels?! Where was his cologne?! Miles smelt like nothing as he passed the guard, and the guard noticed.
The guard wanted to stop Miles and send him away due to not meeting the criteria to enter in such a place of opulence. Even after seeing Miles park his creaky bicycle, the guard was certain this boy was a riffraff, probably here to ogle and nothing else.
However, he decided against stopping Miles from entering. His job was a security guard not a judge, and he was to look out for threats, and Miles didn't show any threat. Even the threat of dirtying the tiles, Miles showed none of it. His clothes weren't dirty, they were neat and old fashioned, so the guard let him enter the grand mall.
'Wow! Look at this place!' Miles thought as he glared around, taking it all in.
He swallowed instantly and decided not to stare at the expensive things like a moron and instead, head to what he came here to do. His mind began racing upon things he could buy as well, not just some clothes. He wouldn't like to drop by a second or third time.
At the counter, one of the employees noticed a lean looking boy in faded clothes, wandering into the center of the mall as if lost. Her eyes widened and she frowned, tapping her fellow employee to take a look.
"What is that piece of trash doing inside here?!" she asked her fellow employee.
It didn't take time for the second employee to spot Miles, as he was a smudge in a pristine canvas. "What the heck?! Isn't that Pizzeria Santos Bella delivery boy?! What is he doing inside here?!"
"Delivery boy you say?!"
"Yes!" the second employee said then lowered her voice as if to make sure not everyone but her friend heard the next words. "I buy pizza from him like thrice a week!"
The first employee glared hard at Miles with a big scowl on her face. She wondered what a pizza delivery boy would be doing in the most grandest mall in all of New Beckley city. There was no way he'd be able to buy anything in this mall. Even a simple branded sock could buy the very pizza shop he worked in!
Miles was still unaware of the employees gossiping about him and one about to make a move. His eyes lit up when he found the clothing store and he walked toward it, not knowing employee 1 had left her stop, her heels clicking toward him.
