Logan came into view, his tall frame tense with the weight of an explanation he seemed reluctant to give. Isabelle could sense it immediately — the storm brewing behind his calm facade. He ran a hand through his dark hair, exhaling as though preparing himself.
"There's something I need to tell you," he began, his tone measured.
Isabelle arched a brow, waiting.
"The reason Selena is staying here," he continued, "is because of a deal I made with her father." His gaze didn't waver as he spoke, though a flicker of guilt passed through his eyes. "It was long before I met you. Her father invested heavily in one of my companies during a rough patch, and part of the agreement was… well, that Selena would have a place here whenever she needed."
Isabelle blinked, surprised. "That's it?"
Logan frowned slightly. "That's it."
She tilted her head. "And you're explaining this to me because…?"
