Revelation

Panic surged through him, and he felt the urge to run, but his body refused to move. The ghost's eyes seemed to bore into his soul, and he could feel the weight of its gaze pressing down on him. 'What did it want? Why was it here?' The questions swirled in his mind, but he couldn't find the words to voice them.

As the seconds stretched into what felt like an eternity, Ethan's instincts kicked in. He forced himself to take a step back, breaking the spell that had held him captive. "What do you want?" he finally managed to whisper, his voice trembling. The ghost remained silent, its calm demeanor contrasting sharply with the turmoil inside him.

Ethan's heart raced as he braced himself for a response, unsure of what would come next. The air felt thick with tension, and he could sense that this encounter was just the beginning of something far more complicated than he had ever imagined.

The ghost's expression shifted slightly, as if it were contemplating Ethan's question. For a moment, the silence was deafening, and Ethan could hear the pounding of his own heart in his ears.

"What do I want?" the ghost wondered out loud. Ethan couldn't help but freeze at the sound of the ghost's voice. It wasn't what he expected; the ghost sounded normal, like a human would. He chuckled at the multitude of ideas he once had about the ghost, but as the silence continued, he recalled he wasn't in a situation that permitted his antics.

Having finished his contemplation, the ghost, seemingly uncertain on how to proceed, finally said, "My name is Kai. I was murdered by my best friends!" As he reached this point, the air in the room became colder, and Ethan could feel the extreme amount of rage that Kai was feeling. "I need to know why they did it, and you're going to help me."

Ethan's breath caught in his throat as he processed Kai's words. The weight of the ghost's revelation hung heavily in the air, and he could feel the chill of Kai's anger seeping into his bones.

"Murdered by your best friends?" he repeated, his voice a mix of disbelief and concern. But he gathered himself the next moment, uncomfortably shifting on the couch. "What did you mean when you said 'I was going to help you?'" Ethan was already dreading the response he was going to get from Kai.

"Exactly what it sounds like, Ethan." Kai said menacingly, his attention now fully on Ethan.

"Please don't drag me into this. I'm just a normal college student; I don't want to have anything to do with this!" Ethan pleaded; his voice almost a whisper. The gravity of the situation and the potential consequences of agreeing to Kai's request chilling him to his bones.

"I'm sorry, Ethan, but this is not a request. You will help me uncover why I was betrayed, you will help me find my killers, and you will help me get my revenge," Kai insisted, his voice firm and unwavering.
