On Saturday morning, Chen Han Sheng called his counselor, Guo Zhongyun, to check if it was okay to visit today.
Guo was very happy to hear from him: "Come over quickly! Both your teacher and I are busy today, and we were just worried about who would take care of Jia Hui."
After confirming, Chen Han Sheng called Xiao Rongyu. She had already prepared: "Xiao Chen, I want to try the breakfast at your school."
"I've already eaten." Chen Han Sheng made an excuse before brushing his teeth. "Next time, besides, our school's breakfast isn't even that good."
He was instinctively trying to avoid a "chance encounter" with Wang Jian.
"It's better if one of you is at the Financial College and the other at East University, keeping your distance. Plus, with so many students, it's unlikely you'll bump into each other," he added.
Once everything was ready, Chen Han Sheng waited for Xiao Rongyu at the East University gate. Her figure was already remarkable, and wearing a light pink Puma sportswear made her look even more graceful. She carried a small backpack, and walking in the cool autumn breeze, she was a sight to behold.
"It's so cold, Xiao Chen."
Xiao Rongyu lightly stomped her feet.
"Why don't you go back to the dorm?" Chen Han Sheng suggested.
"I won't go back," Xiao Rongyu said, lifting her head to glare at Chen Han Sheng before putting her right hand in his coat pocket.
"You're going to get us misunderstood," Chen Han Sheng said helplessly.
Xiao Rongyu smiled sweetly. "Let them misunderstand. Besides, I wasn't planning on dating anyone in college."
"But I want to date. Why don't you go bother Gao Jialiang instead… Ah, why are you pinching me?"
"Who told you not to keep your mouth shut?"
Although it was cold outside, the bus was warm, though a bit stuffy. Fortunately, the 737 bus started from Jiangling, so Chen Han Sheng managed to secure a window seat for Xiao Rongyu.
"Let me see your phone. It probably wasn't money from Aunt Liang, right?"
Xiao Rongyu, after sitting down, eagerly wanted to hear a story.
"My mom's really stingy. When she used to take me out, she wouldn't let us go to places where the average cost was over 20 yuan," Chen Han Sheng replied with a grimace.
Xiao Rongyu giggled and hit his shoulder lightly. "So, you're really earning your own money?"
Chen Han Sheng didn't hide anything, knowing that if he were to expand into the student market at East University, he might need Xiao Rongyu's help. So he casually mentioned how he had torn off ads for "Shentong Express" and talked about visiting Zhong Jiancheng, strengthening relations with the student union, and so on. Naturally, he left out the part about Shen Youchu.
Xiao Rongyu pouted and said, "You've done so many things, and I didn't know about any of it."
"Well, as members of the Young Pioneers, we don't do good deeds for recognition," Chen Han Sheng joked, then introduced his counselor, Guo Zhongyun, and his daughter, Jia Hui. Xiao Rongyu was interested in Jia Hui and even asked if she should buy some fruit.
"Yes, buy some fruit. If it's convenient, pick up some exercise books for her. She loves math," Chen Han Sheng said responsibly.
As they continued chatting, Xiao Rongyu began to feel sleepy from the bus's rocking motion.
"Xiao Chen, I want to lean on your shoulder."
"You're already leaning against the window," Chen Han Sheng replied.
The seat shifted as Xiao Rongyu ended up resting her head on his shoulder. Chen Han Sheng nudged her twice but gave up when he realized it didn't work.
After switching buses a couple of times, they finally arrived at Guo Zhongyun's home. Guo was curious about Xiao Rongyu's beauty.
Chen Han Sheng worried about any misunderstandings and quickly explained: "This is my high school classmate. She's a student at East University. I brought her here to enjoy the cultural atmosphere of our ancient city."
"Pfft, so smooth," Xiao Rongyu politely greeted Guo Zhongyun, then proceeded to tease the chubby Jia Hui. Seeing her messy hair, Xiao Rongyu helped her tie it up.
"Han Sheng, Xiao Xiao is really beautiful," Guo Zhongyun said with a smile.
Chen Han Sheng didn't elaborate further, worried it would make things more awkward. Instead, he changed the topic: "Teacher Guo, I'm planning to start a university entrepreneurship project, and I want to list your name as the advisor."
Guo Zhongyun didn't hesitate. "No problem, but I don't know much about this. If you're comfortable with it, just put my name down."
Guo Zhongyun needed to accompany his parents for a checkup, so after a brief tidy-up, he was ready to leave. He looked at his daughter, who was already dressed, had her hair tied, and was holding a cartoon teapot, sipping water.
"Thanks, Xiao Xiao," Guo Zhongyun expressed his gratitude before telling Chen Han Sheng, "You two enjoy yourselves today. I'm treating."
After Guo Zhongyun left, Chen Han Sheng and Xiao Rongyu took Jia Hui out. As they walked, Xiao Rongyu suddenly asked, "Who is Xiao Yu?"
It was obvious that Jia Hui had spilled the beans.
"What? Is it going to rain?" Chen Han Sheng pretended not to understand, shielding his eyes as he looked at the distant sky. "The weather forecast didn't say it would rain today."
"Brother, Xiao Yu is Teacher Xiao Yu. I already know her QQ number."
Jia Hui said proudly, lifting her face as if showing off.
Chen Han Sheng: Heh...
Xiao Rongyu: Heh...
Jia Hui, the little chatterbox, grew tired and wanted to be carried. Xiao Rongyu, who wasn't strong, struggled to carry her and soon gave up.
"Chen Han Sheng, you carry her."
Chen Han Sheng didn't want to carry her, but since Jia Hui insisted, he crouched down and coaxed her: "Be good, Jia Hui. How about we go to McDonald's after?"
"Okay, thank you, Brother Xiao Chen."
Jia Hui happily kissed Chen Han Sheng on the cheek.
"Can we walk on our own now?"
"No."
Chen Han Sheng thought for a moment and tried a different tactic: "Let's count to three, and I'll carry you, okay?"
Jia Hui, confident in her math skills, stood up and said, "No problem!"
Then, Chen Han Sheng shouted: "March forward! One, two, one, two, one..."
Jia Hui, with her little backpack, swayed behind him.
Xiao Rongyu stood stunned for a moment, then shook her head. "You really are a liar."
The trio wandered from Muling Road to Zhongshan South Road, then to Xinshi Kou. Along the way, Xiao Rongyu shopped at various malls, her eyes drawn to clothes.
Chen Han Sheng was the most tired, constantly worrying about Jia Hui getting lost, and in the end, had no choice but to carry her.
Finally, after they sat down at a McDonald's in Xinshi Kou, Chen Han Sheng silently cursed himself. The school's porridge was much better, so why was he spending time shopping with women?
The McDonald's had a newly launched strawberry ice cream sundae. Jia Hui gazed longingly at others eating it, then turned to Xiao Rongyu and said, "Sister, I want ice cream."
Xiao Rongyu, equally tired, lazily rested her chin on her hands, gazing longingly at Chen Han Sheng. "Sister wants it too."
