"What BGM, stop talking nonsense."
Mu Wenling couldn't bear to see such a scene. Even if she couldn't tolerate Chen Hansheng, it would be enough to just kick him out. Why humiliate him in front of so many people?
Qi Wei also stood up for Chen Hansheng: "He raised 1,000 yuan on his own for the freshman event, fulfilling his role as vice minister. Now he's being kicked out of the student council for no reason. It's really too much."
"Chen Hansheng, you should leave the venue for now. This is obviously Left Xiaoli and Hu Xiuping's revenge."
Just as these two were urging Chen Hansheng to retreat and "take cover," Left Xiaoli smirked coldly.
Even if Chen Hansheng wanted to leave today, he wouldn't let him go that easily.
Suddenly, a familiar yet unexpected figure appeared at the entrance of the university activities center—it was Zhou Xiao, the former vice minister of the external relations department.
His appearance caused a stir in the student council. Many people already sensed that the atmosphere was tense, but Zhou Xiao's arrival shifted all attention directly to Chen Hansheng.
Zhou Xiao ignored everyone else and walked straight to Chen Hansheng: "Chen Hansheng, if you don't have the guts, be a coward and run now."
Chen Hansheng thought to himself that Zhou Xiao was afraid he'd leave and even resorted to a cheap provocation.
"Another significant side character shows up. If only I had worn a dragon robe, this moment would be legendary," Chen Hansheng mused with regret.
On the stage, Left Xiaoli checked his watch, whispered a few words to Hu Xiuping, and then announced loudly, "Close the doors; the meeting begins!"
Chen Hansheng "stubbornly" ignored the advice to leave, making Mu Wenling sigh as she returned to her seat. As the oak doors of the university activities center slowly closed, she felt that Chen Hansheng was destined for humiliation today.
Zhou Xiao's lips curled up as he crossed his arms, looking completely in control.
"There are two agenda items for today's meeting."
Left Xiaoli began presiding, "First, next week we will be holding an internal debate selection for the humanities department to choose sharp-minded and articulate debaters to represent us in the school-wide debate competition."
"As everyone knows, the debate competition is one of the most important group activities in the Finance College. Our humanities department has never fallen out of the top four, and we hope this year, while maintaining our performance, we can make a strong push for the championship!"
After he finished, Left Xiaoli led a round of applause, but the response was tepid, as everyone was more interested in the main drama.
Left Vice President was annoyed. This was an "event" he had carefully orchestrated for a long time, and the lack of enthusiasm was unacceptable.
He glared around the room, "What's going on? Is that the best you can do? Did none of you eat lunch?"
In fact, most students hadn't had lunch, except for those without morning classes. But seeing Left Xiaoli's strange mood, the student council members clapped again, louder this time.
Left Xiaoli nodded in satisfaction. Ever since Chen Hansheng joined the student council and became vice minister, Left Xiaoli hadn't been at ease. He finally persuaded Hu Xiuping and took advantage of the time when Guan Shuman was out and couldn't review the documentation, pushing through a statement.
Historically, the faculty committee never meddled in internal student council matters and simply approved requests.
"The second item."
Left Xiaoli turned his gaze to Chen Hansheng, and everyone followed.
"We have a council member who acts arrogantly, breaks rules, and misuses their authority, severely affecting the stability and unity of the student council."
"After discussions among the faculty committee and the executive board, we've decided to expel Chen Hansheng from the student council. We hope he will take time to learn, improve his understanding, and avoid tarnishing the Finance College's reputation in the future."
"Whoa—"
The 60 or so people in the student council erupted. While some had vaguely anticipated this, they didn't expect the announcement to come so abruptly.
A vice minister being dismissed without resigning? Just like that?
Dozens of eyes turned to Chen Hansheng, some with pity, some with sympathy, some indifferent, and others amused. Qi Wei patted Chen Hansheng's hand to offer comfort.
Seeing this reaction, Left Xiaoli and Zhou Xiao exchanged a glance, reveling in the satisfaction of finally taking down their rival.
Unfortunately, Chen Hansheng's face showed no surprise or disappointment.
What's more, he stood up.
Was he planning to make a scene? There were over 60 people here.
Chen Hansheng wasn't about to make a scene. He stood up because, in his mind, the prelude to his BGM had already started, and he needed to match it with action.
"Vice President Left, Vice President Hu."
Chen Hansheng walked towards the stage, speaking, "I have a few questions. May I say a few words?"
If possible, Left Xiaoli wished he could kick Chen Hansheng off the stage. This guy asked for permission while already walking up.
"Please," Hu Xiuping said politely in English, feeling relaxed. Chen Hansheng had no way to turn the situation around.
Chen Hansheng cleared his throat, "I'm a vice minister, and without a strong wish to resign, you're dismissing me. Isn't that against the rules?"
Left Xiaoli impatiently replied, "I made it clear; this was the faculty committee's decision."
"Words aren't proof. I want evidence," Chen Hansheng stated flatly.
"Wow, this is a first."
Hu Xiuping thought, he really won't give up until he hits the wall. This was the first time someone demanded proof.
"If we show you the evidence, will you step down willingly?"
Had it not been for his business ambitions at Finance College, Chen Hansheng wouldn't bother with this group, but the titles did come with perks. They'd proven useful, as seen in the incident with Shang Yanyan.
"Show the evidence, and I'll not only step down but apologize publicly," Chen Hansheng declared loudly.
The BGM in his head was now in its second phase, the crescendo approaching.
"Fine, I'll get the evidence."
Hu Xiuping turned to leave for the faculty office. He originally didn't bear much ill will towards Chen Hansheng, but the guy had overstepped by overshadowing him at the event.
What, did he want to become the student council president?
As Hu Xiuping left, the activity center buzzed with conversation. Left Xiaoli looked at Chen Hansheng with triumph, thinking, why fight back? Being a laughingstock suits you better.
The faculty building wasn't far from the center. When Hu Xiuping returned, he looked conflicted.
"Xiaoli, come here."
Hu Xiuping was as hesitant as a dumpling.
Left Xiaoli, still on his high horse, didn't notice his expression and mocked, "Hu, just come up with the proof so our former vice minister can see it!"
"No, Xiaoli, come here first."
Left Xiaoli strode over, "A real man acts straightforwardly. Stop hesitating. I'll read it aloud."
"Regarding the unsuitability of Chen Hansheng to hold the position of vice minister of the external relations department, it is noted that he has shown lax conduct, poor discipline, inexperience, misuse of power, severely impacting the council's stability. It is hereby decided that Chen Hansheng is to be removed from the position."
"Approval needed. Approved or not…"
Left Xiaoli stopped abruptly at the signature section, eyes wide as he stared at Hu Xiuping, "The, the red stamp?"
Hu Xiuping slapped his thigh in frustration, "I told you to come out first!"
Chen Hansheng had moved closer at some point, snatched the document, and read aloud, "Approval needed. The faculty response was just two words."
"Not approved!"
In that moment, in Chen Hansheng's mind, the background music representing triumph reached its peak.
Ignite my BGM!
