Chapter 124: Setting a Trap

"The time we spend together is always so short. As the joyful sounds fade, today's broadcast is coming to an end. Let's meet again tomorrow. Goodbye, students."

At the 101 Entrepreneurship Base, listening to the familiar voice from the campus radio station, Hu Linyu said discontentedly, "Chen Hanxing, you've managed to get someone like Shang Yanyan into the school radio station, but you promised to help me get into the student council for some experience!"

In Hu Linyu's mind, Shang Yanyan could never have gotten into the news center and radio station on her own merits unless someone helped her. And apart from Chen Hanxing, no one in their class had that kind of influence.

Of course, even Shang Yanyan herself admitted, "It was the class leader who helped me get in."

Chen Hanxing, though, felt a bit helpless. He hadn't expected things to move so quickly. Chen Tianyu had suddenly taken an interest in the charming and flashy Shang Yanyan. What was even more annoying was that Shang Yanyan didn't seem interested in someone like Chen Tianyu, the wealthy and handsome type.

"The student council experience is a small issue, don't be too impatient," Chen Hanxing said, trying to calm her down. He was almost certain to be elected vice president of the Humanities Department next year, with the president being Qi Wei. With their relationship, it would be easy to bring in a little assistant to gain some experience.

However, he didn't tell Hu Linyu the full story, worrying that if it got out, it would damage his image as a righteous and honorable person. Being vice president wasn't the final goal, after all—the presidency was.

"Besides, you wouldn't be able to do this job at the radio station anyway," Chen Hanxing bluntly remarked, pointing out that Hu Linyu's heavy hometown accent often led her to confuse "n" and "l."

Fuming, Hu Linyu ripped off her mask and glared at him.

Chen Hanxing smirked, "Better put it back on; with just your eyes showing, you could still pretend to be a beauty."

"Youchu, can you control Chen Hanxing?" Hu Linyu, helpless, turned to Shen Youchu for support.

Shen Youchu lowered her head, feeling a bit embarrassed. Apart from Liang Meijuan, who could control Chen Hanxing?

"Let's go, the laboring people are the most glorious."

Around 11 AM, Chen Hanxing was preparing to go to the New Century Electronics Factory to pick up parcels, his turn for duty that day. Since March, nearly a month had passed, and the parcel handling business at the electronics factory had been smoothly taken over by Rocket 101 without any major issues, which impressed Zhong Jiancheng greatly.

Just as Chen Hanxing pressed the gas pedal, a figure walked toward him, holding a small bowl.

"Ban Lan Gen (a type of herbal medicine)," Shen Youchu whispered.

After he drank it, Shen Youchu washed the bowl and put it away. Hu Linyu, concerned, said, "Youchu, if you focus all your attention on one man like this, what will you do if his feelings change later?"

Shen Youchu looked up at Hu Linyu, then after a long pause, shook her head. "I... I don't know."

...

When Chen Hanxing arrived at the New Century Electronics Factory, he didn't rush to work. After parking, he first casually chatted with the security guards. He was good at socializing, eloquent, and knew the rules, so the factory security guards liked the young man a lot.

"Mr. Chen," one of the security guards said, taking the cigarette Chen Hanxing handed him. "Your team is diligent, but there are few who speak as well as you. We've made some exceptions for you just because of your face."

Chen Hanxing smiled, "Thank you, everyone. After I get my paycheck this month, I'll treat you all to a meal."

"Look, Mr. Chen is such a straightforward person."

As Chen Hanxing walked toward the administrative building of the electronics factory, he threw away his cigarette and tidied his clothes a little. He pulled out a bag of fruit from his bag and went to the front desk.

"Wen Jie, you said your throat was bothering you the other day, so I bought you some pears."

Wen Jie, the young woman at the front desk, was in her twenties. Chen Hanxing had forgotten her last name, but he acted like he cared a lot.

"Ah, this is too kind. Hanxing, you really don't need to be so polite," Wen Jie said, happily accepting the pears.

The parcels were kept at the front desk, and Chen Hanxing's job as a delivery worker was to first sort, then register the parcels, and finally transport them with a tricycle to the front gate to wait for the Deepcom delivery trucks to pick them up.

As he sorted parcels, chatting with Wen Jie, she said, "Hanxing, your other colleagues don't talk much. They're all quiet, just taking the parcels."

Chen Hanxing smiled, "Maybe they've never met someone as beautiful as you, Wen Jie. They're too nervous."

"Ah, your words are so sweet."

Wen Jie peeled one of the pears and cut it in half, "You should have half too."

Chen Hanxing didn't want to eat the same fruit with her, so he jokingly said, "Wen Jie, pears shouldn't be shared like this. If you split them, it's called separation, which has bad connotations."

Wen Jie thought it made sense. She was quite fond of Chen Hanxing and didn't want any separation for now.

At that moment, the office director of the administration department, Qu Meihong, clicked her high heels as she walked by. Wen Jie quickly lowered her head and pretended to be busy.

However, Qu Meihong wasn't there to reprimand Wen Jie. She spoke directly to Chen Hanxing, "Hanxing, the other day, you helped with my child's homework problem. You solved it perfectly."

Chen Hanxing humbly replied, "It wasn't me, I took it home to ask some friends, they helped me."

"Anyway, thank you for helping. If there's another problem next time, I'll ask you again."

"No problem, Meihong."

...

Chen Hanxing used the limited resources at his disposal to smooth over relationships with everyone he could influence at the New Century Electronics Factory, including the greedy Zhao Chunming.

Around 1 PM, Chen Hanxing was dragging the registered parcels to the front gate on his tricycle when the familiar wine-red sports car appeared again. This was probably the closest he had been to it.

The car slowed as it passed the entrance. The woman in the car probably forgot who Chen Hanxing was, or maybe she didn't recognize him in his delivery uniform.

Chen Hanxing considered whether he should create an opportunity to pretend to know her, but just then, his phone rang.

"Hanxing, I see you at the entrance. Take me somewhere later," Zhao Chunming's voice came through the phone.

Chen Hanxing hesitated, then decided to forgo the chance to reconnect with the "big shot." He replied, "Okay."

After hanging up, Chen Hanxing sneered coldly to himself. "Kong Jing hasn't asked me for anything so far, but Zhao Chunming really treats me like a driver and an ATM."

He took out his recorder, checked the battery, and slipped it into his pocket.

"Where's Zhao Boss headed?" Chen Hanxing asked, sounding friendly.

"We're going to Tian Shui Ya Ji for tea, the deputy factory manager invited me," Zhao Chunming answered.

Tian Shui Ya Ji was a tea house in Jiangling District. When they arrived at the entrance, Zhao Chunming didn't plan to let Chen Hanxing come inside. He instructed, "You wait for me here."

Chen Hanxing nodded and agreed.

But just as Zhao Chunming walked a few steps, Chen Hanxing suddenly called out from behind, "Zhao Boss, you forgot your bag."

Zhao Chunming looked back and realized he had indeed left his briefcase behind. He quickly grabbed it and hurried into the tea house.
