Shattered illusion

Ryan's Point of View

I watched Isabella weight fall on George's arm, her body was stiff, and her breathing was shallow.

I lifted my legs to turn but it felt stiff, I knew I would walk away, I added extra force as my legs were rooted to the floor,my heart hitting hard on my ears while I watched her.

George bent, holding her tighter around her waist, his jaw was tight as he carried her like she weighed nothing, he held her like she would break in a few minutes.

"Isa," he called, his voice softer than I'd ever heard it. "Come on. Stay with me."

She didn't answer, she laid on his body unconscious, her hand hanging weightless in the air.

I let out a laugh, low and bitter, so this is what she thinks she is? I thought.

Why will George care for her like that?
