Chapter 20: I’m Healed

After Lin Qiye fed Nyx her medication, he withdrew from his thoughts and slowly drifted into sleep.

This time, he didn't dream the exhausting door-knocking dream. Since the psychiatric hospital for gods had merged with his consciousness, it seemed that he had completely broken free from that repetitive nightmare and experienced true rest.

He had a pleasant dream—he dreamed of getting into college, achieving success in his career, and moving into a big house with his aunt and Yang Jin. He dreamed of the three of them finally going on a trip to see mountains and waters they had only seen on TV…

Due to his previous physical disabilities and the already tight family budget, there was never extra money for travel. In the past 17 years, Lin Qiye hadn't even left Cangnan City. Deep down, he had always longed for the outside world.

When the alarm went off, Lin Qiye reluctantly woke up, got dressed, and prepared to go to school.

As he opened the door, he saw his aunt hurriedly putting on her shoes in the hallway, ready to leave.

"Aunt, why are you leaving so early for work?"

"A batch of new parts arrived at the factory, we need to process them quickly. I'm heading out now, you stay and have breakfast with your brother. Don't be late!" his aunt chattered.

"Got it."

Just as his aunt was about to close the door, Lin Qiye spoke again.

"Aunt."

"What is it?"

His aunt paused and looked at him curiously.

"Nothing... nothing at all." Lin Qiye hesitated for a moment, then shook his head with a smile. "When you get back, I have good news to tell you."

His aunt shot him a puzzled glance and scolded him jokingly, "You're still playing these guessing games with me. Alright, I'm in a rush, I'll listen when I get back tonight!"

With that, she quickly closed the door and rushed down the stairs.

Lin Qiye silently stood in the doorway, lowering his head, lost in thought…

Suddenly, he lifted his head sharply, as though making a decision, and opened the door in his slippers!

He stood at the corridor and shouted loudly downstairs!

"Aunt! I can see! I'm healed!!"

In the next moment, Lin Qiye heard the footsteps from downstairs abruptly stop, and his aunt's voice trembled from five floors below.

"What—what did you say?!"

"I can see! I'm healed! Aunt!"

After a brief pause, the hurried sound of footsteps climbing the stairs grew closer. Before long, his aunt appeared, gasping for breath.

Her lips quivered, but the corners of her mouth couldn't stop rising in joy.

"Can you really see? Really?"

"Really."

"Is it blurry? Are there double images? Does it hurt? Does the light still hurt your eyes?"

"No, none of that, Aunt," Lin Qiye smiled, undoing the black silk cloth covering his eyes. His beautiful eyes slowly opened. "I'm really healed, Aunt."

His aunt stared at those eyes in disbelief, tears streaming down her face uncontrollably!

She smiled, and the wrinkles on her face bloomed like flowers. At over forty, she smiled like a child.

In ten years, Lin Qiye had never seen her smile like this.

She hugged him tightly, and Lin Qiye could feel her body trembling slightly.

"Good... good... Our Xiao Qi has finally made it!" She let go of him, wiped her tears, and smiled brightly. "Xiao Qi, Aunt has to go to work now. When I get home tonight, I'll buy more food. We have to celebrate!"

"Thank you, Aunt."

"Alright, Aunt's leaving. Go to school properly."

"Mm."

His aunt quickly descended the stairs, wiping her face, her steps light and energetic.

Lin Qiye watched his aunt leave, his eyes red, before he turned and walked back inside.

In truth, he had planned to wait until his aunt returned tonight to formally announce the good news. But then he remembered that people who made such declarations in movies often didn't end up well…

He didn't want anything to happen to his aunt, even if it was just some bizarre superstition. He wasn't willing to take that risk.

So, he decisively removed the so-called "fg" (feng shui object) and threw it into the Pacific Ocean.

As he turned around, he saw Yang Jin holding the small black dog behind him, his eyes red.

The two brothers looked at each other for a moment before they both burst into laughter.

"Bro, congratulations."

"Yeah, now I can finally use the sunglasses you gave me," Lin Qiye said, ruffling Yang Jin's hair with a smile.

"Let's eat, bro. Tonight, when Aunt gets back, we'll have a nice dinner."

"Sounds good!"

The little black dog, from Yang Jin's arms, stretched its head out and licked Lin Qiye's hand. "Woof—!"

---

At the Second High School.

When Lin Qiye walked into the classroom, the whole class fell silent.

After a few moments of confusion, someone hesitantly spoke up.

"Are you... Lin Qiye?"

Lin Qiye raised an eyebrow, his eyes no longer covered by the black cloth. He nodded slightly.

After a brief silence, the classroom erupted into even louder chatter, and the discussions were more fervent than before!

"His eyes are healed?"

"It's definitely healed, he can see now!"

"His eyes are so beautiful!"

"Yeah, yeah, why didn't we notice before? He's actually really handsome..."

The girls looked at Lin Qiye with new admiration, huddling together and murmuring, occasionally glancing his way.

The boys, sitting closer to Lin Qiye, crowded around him, asking about his eyes. Once they confirmed that he had truly recovered, they were in awe.

"I could always see, just couldn't handle the light. After I went to the hospital yesterday, it got better," Lin Qiye explained.

His classmates then remembered that Lin Qiye had been absent the previous day and understood the situation.

However, amid the lively chatter, two people stood out.

Liu Yuan, sitting in the corner, lowered his head and peeked at Lin Qiye with a flushed, embarrassed expression.

He clearly remembered that day—he was busy escaping, and had bumped into Lin Qiye. After escaping, he thought that the blind Lin Qiye wouldn't survive the monster's hands. He felt guilty for a while but didn't think much of it.

But now, he hadn't expected that the one least likely to survive—Lin Qiye—was still alive, and even his eyes were healed!

Liu Yuan couldn't decide how he felt—awkward? Guilty? Depressed? Or… regretful?

Although Lin Qiye's back was to Liu Yuan, he could clearly sense his expression through his spiritual perception. His eyes narrowed slightly.

Just then, another person walked up to Lin Qiye's desk.

Li Yifei stood nervously by Lin Qiye's desk, looking awkward. After glancing around, he leaned down and whispered in Lin Qiye's ear:

"Qiye… uh… can you come out with me for a moment? I have something to say."

Lin Qiye hesitated briefly before nodding.
