Mad Cao Yuan let out a ferocious roar, his figure darting forward like lightning. The wooden sword in his hand slashed down, releasing a crescent of black flames aimed straight at Instructor Han.
Unarmed, Instructor Han narrowed his eyes slightly, sidestepping into a roll to evade the crescent. In the same motion, he grabbed a straight blade lying on the ground nearby.
A crisp hum sounded as the blade unsheathed.
With the sword in hand, Instructor Han's demeanor transformed instantly.
His deep gaze seemed to pierce through Mad Cao Yuan's movements. As Cao Yuan's frenzied form lunged at him, Han stepped back sharply, twisting his body to swing the blade in a precise arc.
Clang!
The black flame-imbued wooden sword clashed with Han's straight blade, producing a metallic ringing. Cao Yuan sneered and pressed harder with brute force!
Han's blade was knocked aside by the force, but without a hint of panic, he anticipated Cao Yuan's next strike perfectly, sidestepped, and evaded with ease. He then retreated several paces, his expression growing more serious.
"BaiLi, wasn't the Superpower suppression activated? How is Cao Yuan still able to use his?" BaiLi Pangpang whispered to Lin QiYe, perplexed.
"The higher the sequence number of a Superpower object, the weaker the suppression effect. It might work on others, but Cao Yuan's sequence is far too high for it to be fully suppressed.
Moreover, his Superpower object is unique. In his berserk state, even he can't control it, let alone the suppression object's effect," Lin QiYe speculated.
"Then doesn't that mean the instructors' Superpowers are suppressed too?" BaiLi Pangpang asked, realization dawning on him. "So right now, only Cao Yuan can use his Superpower, and Instructor Han is fighting him purely with skill and experience?
That's a super high-risk berserker we're talking about!"
Lin QiYe remained silent, his eyes fixed on the fierce battle unfolding on the platform.
"Everyone, evacuate the training ground immediately!" Instructor Han shouted as he was forced back several steps by Cao Yuan's overwhelming strength after another clash of blades.
With his keen eye, Han had already recognized Cao Yuan's Superpower object and roughly understood the current situation. No matter how he looked at it, Cao Yuan was too dangerous now. With the recruits' Superpowers suppressed, they were merely ordinary people. Keeping them on the field was courting disaster.
"Damn it, I can't sense my own Superpower…" Han gritted his teeth, continuously attempting to activate his Superpower to no avail.
In his berserk state, Cao Yuan was someone even the formidable Wang Mian found challenging. Without his Superpower or any backup, Han was left relying solely on his battle experience and techniques to contend with the berserker.
It was in this precarious situation that Lin QiYe and the others witnessed the full extent of Instructor Han's true combat prowess.
No matter how swift or unpredictable Cao Yuan's attacks were, Han could always predict his movements. His straight blade danced with precision, deflecting every single strike with butterfly-like fluidity.
But while he could block the attacks, he couldn't withstand Cao Yuan's monstrous strength or the oppressive black flames surrounding him.
The battle was inherently unfair.
Amidst Cao Yuan's maniacal laughter, Han could only defend himself with great difficulty, retreating step by step.
"Yao Guang," BaiLi Pangpang called as he donned his necklace. Extending his chubby hand toward the platform, a dazzling golden light shot forth like an arrow, colliding heavily with Cao Yuan's wooden sword.
The light morphed into a golden rope, binding Mad Cao Yuan tightly.
Cao Yuan roared, and the black flames engulfing him grew fiercer, burning through the golden rope in just two seconds. Freed, he turned his feral gaze to BaiLi Pangpang below the platform.
BaiLi Pangpang shivered, took a step back, and swallowed hard. "Lin QiYe, help me!"
Lin QiYe sighed helplessly. "Give me the knife."
"Huh? Oh, okay!" BaiLi Pangpang quickly rummaged through his pockets.
By now, Mad Cao Yuan had abandoned Instructor Han and fully locked onto BaiLi Pangpang and Lin QiYe as his targets, charging toward them with unbridled ferocity.
"Run!!" Han shouted in alarm, chasing after Cao Yuan.
Lin QiYe, however, stood still, his brows furrowed. A faint golden light flickered in his eyes as an imposing aura radiated from him.
"Found it!" BaiLi Pangpang finally retrieved a blade similar in length to the Star Blade and handed it to Lin QiYe.
At that moment, Cao Yuan's black flames were almost upon them!
The wooden sword, wreathed in sinister flames, sliced through the air toward BaiLi Pangpang's neck. Just as it seemed inevitable, a flash of white light streaked through the air.
Swish—!
The wooden sword collided with the white light, halting the encroaching flames. Lin QiYe twisted his wrist, redirecting Cao Yuan's weapon.
BaiLi Pangpang stood trembling behind Lin QiYe, clutching his wildly beating heart.
"That scared me half to death…"
Lin QiYe glanced at the blade in his hand with a hint of curiosity. "I didn't even touch his sword, so why…?"
"That blade's Superpower object is called Lesser Cleave White. It's a synthetic Superpower object modeled after Sequence 061's divine weapon, Cleave White. When swung, it can ignore up to five meters of distance—nothing extraordinary for a Superpower object."
BaiLi Pangpang patted his belly. "The real Cleave White is one of our family's treasures. It's said to ignore up to a kilometer, striking down everything within that range with a single slash."
"That's impressive," Lin QiYe remarked, twirling Lesser Cleave White in his hand.
"Of course! My family only keeps the best treasures. My old man guards them like they're his life—I'm not even allowed to take a peek."
"It handles well," Lin QiYe said, testing the blade's weight and balance with satisfaction.
Mad Cao Yuan growled, his eyes fixed on Lin QiYe. The black flames surrounding him flared even higher.
Sensing the murderous gaze, Lin QiYe snorted coldly and met it with a fierce glare. Golden furnaces seemed to blaze in his eyes, unleashing a divine force that struck directly at Cao Yuan's mind.
Cao Yuan let out a muffled groan, staggered back a half-step, and swayed as if intoxicated.
"Interesting… It seems divine will is surprisingly effective against him," Lin QiYe mused. Turning to BaiLi Pangpang, he added, "Hand me that Sealing Scroll from last time."
"Got it." BaiLi Pangpang pulled a roll of tape from his pocket and handed it to Lin QiYe.
Holding the Lesser Cleave White in his right hand, Lin QiYe tore off a strip of the Sealing Scroll with his teeth. His eyes blazed like twin suns as he charged at Cao Yuan with blinding speed!
When he was still five meters away, Lin QiYe swung the Lesser Cleave White multiple times, knocking Cao Yuan's wooden sword from his grasp.
Cao Yuan roared, raising his other hand, which was shrouded in black flames, and clawed at Lin QiYe.
Lin QiYe, as if predicting every move, ducked slightly to avoid the attack. He then struck Cao Yuan's elbow with the back of the blade, forcing him to drop the wooden sword.
Lin QiYe spun swiftly, wrapping the exposed portion of the Sealing Scroll around Cao Yuan's neck in several tight loops. With a powerful yank, the berserker crashed to the ground.
