Chapter 141: The Chaos
"You know me?" Chen Muye raised an eyebrow slightly.
"Who in the Night Watch doesn't know you, Chen Muye?" Han Shaoyun chuckled. "Ten years ago, the 'Black and White Impermanence' of Shangjing City, who didn't know about you?"
"I thought after all these years, not many people would still recognize me."
"Hmm… Among the younger generation, that's true. But I joined the Night Watch relatively early, so I've heard of your name." Han Shaoyun looked at Chen Muye with some surprise, a hint of confusion in his eyes. "Ten years ago, Black Impermanence Chen Muye suddenly disappeared from Shangjing City, with no word of where you went. Some said you died, others said you made a mistake and were imprisoned by the Commander-in-Chief in a retreat… I never thought you'd end up in this small city, Cangnan, as a team leader. Why?"
"Because I want to," Chen Muye replied calmly.
"..." Han Shaoyun frowned again. "Wait… I remember, before you disappeared, you were already at the Chuan realm. But now, ten years later, White Impermanence has already become the captain of the Shangjing City Night Watch team. How is it that you're still stuck at the Chuan realm?"
Chen Muye fell silent for a moment, then shook his head. "It's not important."
He stepped forward, his feet seemingly walking on the River of the Underworld, each step making a soft ripple. His twin blades hummed as though they were two soul-binding shackles, mesmerizing and terrifying!
Han Shaoyun blinked in surprise, then smiled. "You're right. Whether I know or not, it no longer matters to me…"
With that, he swung his long spear. A wild gust of wind mixed with snow swept through, tearing a hole in the Forbidden Ruin-like landscape. His body crouched slightly, and in the next moment, he shot forward like a dragon!
The tip of his spear slashed through the River of the Underworld's waters, freezing a thin layer of ice along its surface. Han Shaoyun's body moved like a whirlwind, instantly arriving in front of Chen Muye!
The howling wind and snow intensified!
Clang—!!
The twin blades clashed with the long spear. Chen Muye's body was forced back several steps, a faint glow flashing in his eyes. His form melted into the air, ghost-like, and eerily passed through the spear. His straight blade flashed like lightning!
Han Shaoyun was momentarily stunned, then quickly retreated. A blast of wind erupted from his body, attempting to knock away Chen Muye's blade.
Though his reaction was quick, it was still a step too late.
Before the wind could repel the blade, the edge had already left a shallow cut on his chest.
Han Shaoyun swung his long spear, releasing an invisible wind blade that whipped through the air. It sliced past Chen Muye, narrowly missing him, and struck the distant row of old buildings.
Swish—!
The wind blade sliced through the reinforced concrete walls like a hot knife through butter, leaving neat, shallow cuts. Dozens of buildings were severed in half, collapsing with a tremendous crash, dust rising into the air.
A faint scar appeared on Chen Muye's cheek as well…
"You're strong, but in terms of realms, you're still no match for me. That's a hard fact," Han Shaoyun shook his head in regret.
"I know," Chen Muye replied without changing his expression, his voice calm. "That's why I didn't plan to defeat you alone…"
Before he could finish, a spear, wrapped in raging flames, whirled down from the sky!
Boom—!!
The spear struck the ground, the rose-colored flames exploding like a storm, melting all the snow in the vicinity. Han Shaoyun stood at the side, calmly watching Chen Muye, and said:
"An attack like that still won't defeat me…"
Bang—!
From a distance, a dark sniper rifle on the rooftop suddenly flared with blinding light, and a slender bullet shot out, moving so fast that it seemed to pierce through space. In the blink of an eye, it arrived right in front of Han Shaoyun.
Han Shaoyun let out a soft "eh?" and quickly tilted his head backward. The bullet grazed his forehead, leaving a faint burn mark on his skin.
"Custom-made sniper bullets?" He touched his forehead, surprised.
The sound of continuous sniper fire echoed as the bullets seemed to have a mind of their own, each one precisely aimed at Han Shaoyun, forcing him to constantly shift his position to avoid them.
At the same time, Lin QiYe turned to look at the still figure of Wu Xiangnan and asked in confusion, "Aren't you going?"
"Me?" Wu Xiangnan's lips curled into a bitter smile. He slowly raised his hands, showing deep red wounds on his palms. "I can't grip my blade anymore, and my forbidden ruin is a bit special. It has to be used at the right moment. If I rush in now, I'll just be a burden to the captain and the others…"
Lin QiYe was silent for a moment before nodding. "Alright, I'll go first."
With that, a swirl of absolute darkness expanded from his center, and his figure quickly moved toward the battlefield.
The recent battle with the Serpent Woman had drained him considerably, and even maintaining the Shadow God Ruin was taxing. However, after this brief rest, he had regained some of his energy and was now ready to rejoin the fight.
In the distance, Han Shaoyun dodged several more bullets, and with a swift motion, he knocked aside Hong Ying's spear. Just then, Chen Muye's figure appeared behind him like a ghost, and his blade flashed!
Han Shaoyun hadn't expected Chen Muye to appear so suddenly. Just as he was about to react, he felt a sudden shift in the air, and the shadows of people long past reappeared before his eyes…
To an outside observer, black lines extended from his heart, like a cocoon wrapping around him, attempting to bind him.
This was Heart Demon Binding!
Han Shaoyun realized the danger and quickly used his spiritual energy to forcefully break free of Wen Qimo's power. In the distance, Wen Qimo's body shook violently, and he spat out a mouthful of blood, his face pale as paper.
To influence a Sea realm expert with the power of Pool realm was a tremendous strain on his spiritual power.
But in the moment Han Shaoyun broke free, Chen Muye's blade struck heavily into his back, leaving a deep gash. A faint, dark glow surged into Han Shaoyun's body.
Han Shaoyun quickly turned, sweeping his spear to drive Chen Muye back. In the next instant, his senses blurred. The pain in his back was excruciating, and his strength seemed to wane…
He looked down at his hand, his skin now dry and rough. Several age spots had appeared, though he couldn't remember when.
He lifted his head in shock, meeting Chen Muye's eyes.
Chen Muye, seemingly understanding his confusion, spoke softly: "Under the Impermanence Blade, flesh can be severed, the soul can be severed, and even lifespan… can be severed!"
Severing the flesh, severing the soul, severing the lifespan!
"This… is Black Impermanence?" Han Shaoyun muttered to himself, a faint smile appearing at the corner of his mouth. "Perhaps… today I really will die here…"
Swish—!
A blend of darkness and Chen Muye's forbidden ruin overlapped. The twin blades shot forward, spinning rapidly as they aimed for Han Shaoyun's neck!
Han Shaoyun endured the sharp pain in his back, summoning a violent gust of wind to knock the twin blades off course.
At the same time, a figure leapt high into the air from the darkness, his toes tapping one of the blades, before grabbing the other with one hand. With a graceful spin in mid-air, he slashed down at Han Shaoyun!
