The warmth of the living room felt like a soft embrace as Delphinia settled into the plush sofa. Ashton had just bounded upstairs to his room, his laughter echoing faintly as his door clicked shut.

Evander walked in from the dining area, carrying two glasses of wine. He handed one to Delphinia before sitting beside her.

"Long day," he said, leaning back and loosening the top button of his shirt.

Delphinia took a small sip from her glass, letting the wine warm her from the inside. She sighed and glanced at him. "It got... interesting," she admitted, her lips curving into a faint, almost ironic smile.

Evander raised a brow, curiosity flickering in his eyes. "Oh? Do tell."

She leaned back into the cushions, tucking her feet beneath her. "I ran into Kai and Adalaine today."

Evander's relaxed posture stiffened slightly, and his eyes narrowed. "What happened?"
