Delphinia sat on the edge of the bed, her delicate fingers brushing through the silky fabric of the blanket on her lap. The faint traces of exhaustion still lingered in her pale complexion, her body still recovering from yesterday's incident.
Evander stood by the doorway, already dressed in a tailored navy suit. His sharp features were clouded with concern, his dark eyes fixed on Delphinia as if he feared she might faint again at any moment.
"You're staying home today." His voice was low but firm, leaving no room for arguments.
Delphinia looked up at him, her brown eyes soft with silent understanding. She didn't protest, simply giving a small nod. "Okay."
Evander's tense shoulders eased slightly, though the worry in his eyes didn't waver. He walked over, his fingers brushing gently against her cheek. "I just want you to rest... at least for today."
Delphinia leaned into his touch, her eyelids fluttering shut for a moment. "I will."
