The morning sun filtered through the curtains as the soft rustling of the sheets accompanied the slow stirrings of two figures nestled together beneath them. Evander blinked his eyes open, adjusting to the gentle light, only to be greeted by the sight of Delphinia lying beside him, her face serene, lips slightly parted in sleep.
A slow, contented smile stretched across his face as he reached out, tracing his fingers along her cheek before leaning in and pressing a kiss to her lips. She stirred at the contact, her lashes fluttering open as she returned his kiss, a small hum escaping her.
"Please tell me last night wasn't a dream," Evander murmured against her lips, his deep voice still laced with sleep.
Delphinia chuckled, her fingers finding his and bringing his hand down to rest against her stomach. "It wasn't a dream," she assured him, her tone warm and affectionate. "Our baby is right here."
