Buried Truths

The soft chime of porcelain cups meeting their saucers filled the air, blending with the gentle hum of conversation in the lavish sitting room. Delphinia sat across from Elaine, sipping her tea as she listened to the older woman recount a humorous story about Evander and his friends. The past few weeks had brought them closer, and Delphinia had come to appreciate the warmth Elaine freely offered.

"So?" Elaine prompted with a teasing glint in her eyes. "What do you think of Evander's friends? Did they pass your test?"

Delphinia chuckled, setting her teacup down. "They were… interesting."

Elaine laughed. "Interesting? That's a very polite way of saying they're a handful."

"I didn't want to be rude," Delphinia admitted with a small smile. "But yes, they certainly are a lively bunch. I can see why Evander enjoys their company."
