Lena's POV
Lena's breath caught in her throat as she locked eyes with Vivian.
The woman stood in the center of the dimly lit lobby, her heels clicking against the marble floor as she took slow, deliberate steps forward.
The smug curve of her lips sent a chill down Lena's spine.
"You didn't really think it would be that easy, did you?" Vivian's voice was deceptively soft, almost amused.
Behind her, two armed guards stood poised, their weapons trained on Lena and Reed.
Lena's pulse thundered.
Reed stiffened beside her, his fists clenching. "Vivian, don't do this."
Vivian barely spared him a glance. "Oh, Reed. You're really testing my patience. First, you mess up the plan, and now, you're trying to help her?"
Her eyes gleamed with something sharp and dangerous.
Lena's mind raced.
Think. Find a way out.
But there were no exits that weren't blocked.
And Reed… she still wasn't sure she could trust him.
