Chapter 314: Sisters Meet, Yet Strangers!
What had happened in Shimotsuki Village was still unknown to Nami, Zoro, and Kuina.
At that moment, Nami was back in her hometown, Orange Town, visiting her adoptive mother Bell-mère's grave.
She was telling Bell-mère about her experiences during the time she had been away.
Zoro and Kuina were quietly keeping her company.
However, Nami suddenly felt a familiar yet unfamiliar presence approaching.
Slightly annoyed at being disturbed, she turned around to see who it was.
But as soon as she saw the person's face, her expression changed from irritation to delight.
Without hesitation, she dashed forward, aiming to hug the person.
Unexpectedly, Nojiko stepped to the side, easily dodging her embrace.
Caught off guard, Nami stumbled forward, nearly losing her balance.
Her joy was instantly replaced by a cold, sinking feeling.
She turned back to look at Nojiko, only to realize that aside from the familiar face,
nothing about her seemed the same.
The once warm and caring sister now gave off a chilling, distant aura, as if they were strangers.
"Nojiko... what's going on?"
Nami forced a smile, trying to convince herself that it was just a misunderstanding.
"I just killed everyone in Shimotsuki Village, including Koshiro-sensei."
Nojiko's face remained expressionless, her tone devoid of any emotion, as if stating an ordinary fact.
"What are you talking about!"
Zoro couldn't contain his rage and shouted.
He couldn't believe what he was hearing.
Kuina, though equally stunned, held back for a moment, thinking there must be some mistake.
"Didn't hear me clearly? Then I'll say it again."
"I destroyed Shimotsuki Village. Everyone there is dead because of me."
"If you don't believe it, call and check for yourselves."
"You bastard!"
Zoro's fury erupted, and he drew his sword, about to charge forward.
"Wait! Don't rush in, Zoro!"
Kuina managed to hold him back.
"Let's make a call and confirm it first."
Reluctantly, Zoro lowered his sword, though his gaze never left Nojiko.
---
Just as they were about to make the call, Nami's Den Den Mushi suddenly rang.
Kuina quickly answered it.
"Kuina, is that you?"
The voice on the other end was breathless and urgent.
"Yes, it's me, Father!"
Hearing her father's voice, Kuina felt a wave of relief.
Her father was alive—it must be a misunderstanding.
"Are you alright? Did you run into Nojiko?"
Koshiro's tone was filled with panic.
"Yes, Nojiko is right here with us. What's going on?"
Kuina asked, confused by her father's tone.
"What! Listen to me—be careful of her! She's not the same person you once knew!"
"She destroyed the entire village and killed everyone!"
Koshiro's voice trembled with pain and disbelief.
---
"So... you really did it," Zoro muttered through gritted teeth.
Hearing Koshiro's words only confirmed what Nojiko had already claimed.
It was like a cold knife to the heart, leaving them all feeling betrayed and confused.
Nami's hands trembled as she lowered the Den Den Mushi.
Her usual smile had long vanished, replaced by a grim, somber expression.
Her mind was racing with countless questions, each one more painful than the last.
"I won't answer that question a third time."
"My goal now is to kill all of you."
Nojiko's voice was chilling, as if devoid of human feeling.
"Fine! Fine! Fine!"
"Then I'll beat some sense into you!"
Nami's eyes glinted with a fierce determination as she gripped her staff tighter.
She glanced at Zoro and Kuina.
"Stay out of this. I'll handle it."
Without waiting for a response, Nami dashed forward, her eyes blazing with anger and determination.
"Death Qi Blade!"
Seeing Nami charge, Nojiko conjured a blade formed from Death Qi, meeting Nami's weapon head-on.
Clang!
The clash of their blades created a shockwave, their powers seeming evenly matched at first glance.
Nami's expression hardened, realizing that despite Nojiko's sinister transformation, she hadn't lost her combat skills.
---
"Is that all you've got?"
Nami sneered, refusing to acknowledge Nojiko's strength.
"Oh? Is that what you think?"
Nojiko's lips curled into a cold smile.
She had already anticipated Nami's current level of power, given the potential-boosting ability Uchiha Yi had mentioned before.
Even though Nami's growth was astonishing, it was still within expectations.
"Death Domain!"
Since direct confrontation wasn't advantageous, Nojiko decided to maximize her Devil Fruit ability.
A dense black fog erupted from her body, spreading rapidly and covering the entire Orange Town.
Visibility dropped to less than ten meters, and even Observation Haki seemed distorted within the fog.
"What the hell is this?!"
Nami gritted her teeth, trying to sense Nojiko's movements, but the fog interfered with her perception.
Zoro and Kuina, standing at a distance, looked at the engulfing fog with caution.
"We can't rush in recklessly! That mist is dangerous!"
Kuina warned, recognizing the ominous aura emanating from it.
Zoro tightened his grip on his swords, ready to move at a moment's notice.
But he trusted Nami's decision to confront her sister alone.
---
Within the mist, Nami tried to stay alert, knowing that the deadly fog could claim her life if she let her guard down.
Her grip on her weapon tightened as she scanned her surroundings, but Nojiko's presence felt like a specter.
"Is this the power you traded your humanity for, Nojiko?"
Nami shouted into the void, hoping to break through to her sister.
But the only response was a cold laugh, echoing through the fog.
"You never understood, Nami. Power is everything. Without it, you are nothing but a victim."
Nojiko's voice came from all directions, impossible to pinpoint.
"You've lost your way, Nojiko! This isn't you!"
Nami's heart ached, her rage mixed with sorrow.
But deep down, she knew the sister she once loved was no longer standing before her.
"Then let me prove it to you!"
Nojiko's figure finally emerged from the mist, surging forward with her Death Qi blade, aiming for Nami's heart.
In that moment, Nami knew—
This wasn't just a fight to save Nojiko.
It was a battle to protect everything they stood for.
And she couldn't afford to hold back.
