Chapter 317: Idiot Luffy, Call Me Captain!

Chapter 317: Idiot Luffy, Call Me Captain!

A week passed quickly.

Nami, Zoro, and Kuina had basically gotten familiar with their Devil Fruit abilities.

They no longer planned to linger in the East Blue.

With countless doubts and questions swirling in their minds, they were determined to seek the truth.

"From today on, the Orange Pirate Crew is officially established!"

"Set sail!"

With Nami's commanding voice, a small ship bearing a pirate flag with an orange-shaped skull slowly departed from Windmill Village.

"Let me go, damn it!"

"I'm the man who's gonna be Pirate King!"

"I can't possibly become your crewmate!"

Besides Nami, Zoro, and Kuina, there was also a young man wearing a straw hat on board, constantly shouting and struggling.

Over the past few days, this loud-mouthed guy had been shouting about becoming the Pirate King, which thoroughly annoyed Nami, who was already in a bad mood.

So, she did the most reasonable thing—she kidnapped him onto the ship when they set sail.

Pirate King, huh?

From now on, you'll be my subordinate!

Duang!

"Shut up, idiot Luffy!"

"From now on, call me Captain!"

Feeling irritated by his constant noise, Nami mercilessly pummeled him with Armament Haki.

Luffy ended up with a swollen face and a big, cone-shaped bump on his forehead, howling in pain.

"No way!"

"I'm gonna be the Pirate King!"

"I'll never join someone else's crew!"

But despite the pain, Luffy remained stubborn, refusing to yield.

"If you can beat me, I'll let you go."

"If you lose, you'll stay and be my crewmate!"

"I'll even give you one chance per month to challenge me again!"

"How's that?"

"If you can't accept that, I'll just toss you into the sea to feed the fish!"

Nami's patience was wearing thin, and she proposed a compromise to make him submit.

"Alright! I accept!"

Luffy finally calmed down, pressing down his straw hat with a serious expression.

Seeing the bet settled, Zoro and Kuina exchanged amused glances, clearly looking forward to the spectacle.

Not long after, they found a small uninhabited island that was just right for a duel.

"Come on!"

"Let me see if the guy aiming to be Pirate King has any skills!"

Nami crossed her arms and looked at Luffy with a faint smile.

"Gomu Gomu no Pistol!"

Luffy shouted, pulling his arm back like a slingshot before unleashing a powerful straight punch.

The speed might have seemed fast to an ordinary person, but to Nami, it was like watching a snail crawl.

She effortlessly sidestepped, evading the punch by a hair's breadth.

Although she had plenty of opportunities to counter, Nami didn't end the fight immediately.

She wanted to see just how much potential this straw hat kid had.

Missing his first strike and seeing Nami dodge so effortlessly, Luffy felt the gap in their strength.

But rather than giving up, his fighting spirit only intensified.

"Gomu Gomu no Gatling!"

Luffy quickly switched tactics, unleashing a barrage of rapid punches like a storm of bullets, covering a wide area.

He aimed to eliminate all of Nami's escape routes.

But even with this relentless assault, Nami moved gracefully, weaving through the gaps without breaking a sweat.

She walked steadily towards Luffy, her movements calm and elegant.

"Bam!"

When she got close enough, Nami delivered a punch to his stomach, embedding Armament Haki into her strike.

The blow made Luffy double over, dropping to his knees as he clutched his stomach, coughing and dry heaving.

"Too weak!"

"With that kind of strength, you'll never beat me!"

"Want to keep going?"

Nami looked down at him, her tone cold and indifferent.

Although she could tell that Luffy wasn't weak by East Blue standards, his strength was nowhere near enough to impress her.

He had potential, but he needed guidance—and more power.

Luffy didn't answer immediately, his spirit dampened by the crushing blow.

The pain reminded him of his grandfather's training, and he couldn't help but feel a bit discouraged.

But his fiery determination soon reignited.

Clenching his fists, he slowly stood up, wiping away the sweat on his face.

"I won't give up!"

"I'll challenge you again next month!"

Luffy said with a resolute gaze, his fighting spirit unbroken.

"Fine, fine!"

"Next month it is!"

Nami couldn't help but smirk at his tenacity.

"Now sit down and shut up! From now on, you're my subordinate!"

Seeing Luffy finally quiet down, Zoro and Kuina couldn't help but laugh.

The reckless and loud-mouthed straw hat boy had now been tamed, at least for the time being.

Back on the ship, Nami looked at the open sea and fell into deep thought.

Although Luffy's stubbornness was frustrating, she couldn't deny that his spirit was inspiring.

But that also reminded her of Nojiko and the strange transformation that her sister had undergone.

This journey would be long and full of challenges.

But with her new crewmates by her side, she felt more confident in facing the unknown.

Her resolve to find Nojiko and uncover the truth only grew stronger.

"Set sail!"

"To the Grand Line!"

Nami commanded, her voice filled with determination.

The ship cut through the waves, bound for adventure and answers.
