Chapter 128: Nothing Found

Adrian's gaze sharpened, his brows furrowing. "Do you know who's searching for the Holy Grail?"

Livia shook her head slightly, her voice steady and calm. "I'm not sure. But whoever they are, they will strike again."

She paused for a moment, her expression turning complicated as she looked at Adrian. Then, with a soft sigh, she said apologetically, "I'm sorry for lying to you last time."

Adrian frowned. "What?"

Livia met his gaze, a trace of guilt flickering in her eyes. "I thought I could keep this matter from involving you, so I lied."

Adrian and Elise exchanged a glance, clearly surprised that Livia would admit to lying and even apologize for it.

"But… you already know that my last coma, and this time being kidnapped, were both because of the 'Holy Grail,'" Livia continued, her voice low. "Anything related to it will bring danger and threats."

A chill ran through Adrian and Elise's hearts, their expressions growing serious.

So the danger she had been facing… was all because of this?

Elise unconsciously tightened her grip on Adrian's hand, her eyes filled with concern. "Livia… So you've been hiding this all along?"

Livia nodded lightly. "Yes. Because I didn't want to drag you into it."

Adrian took a deep breath and fell silent for a moment before suddenly letting out a bitter chuckle. "But we've already been dragged into it, haven't we?"

Livia's eyes darkened slightly. She nodded. "Yes. After what happened, people in the city now know you're connected to me."

She paused, her tone becoming heavier. "That means you'll inevitably be in danger too."

Elise bit her lip, gripping Adrian's hand even tighter as if seeking comfort.

Livia looked at them, but her expression remained calm. "But don't worry too much. Their primary target will still be me."

Oddly enough, hearing this only made Adrian more uneasy.

If she was saying this, it meant she had already prepared herself for battle… or even for sacrifice.

"And Adrian…" Livia looked at him seriously. "You've always had a special connection to the 'Holy Grail' and related objects. I believe, sooner or later, you'll become even more deeply involved. Rather than keeping you in the dark, I'd rather tell you now so you can be prepared."

Adrian's heart trembled slightly.

Was she saying that… even if he wanted to avoid it, he couldn't?

Lowering his gaze, he fell into deep thought before slowly raising his head. He met Livia's eyes with unwavering determination. "In that case, let's keep searching."

Elise, still holding his hand tightly, nodded. "That's right. We trust you, Livia. No matter what happens, we won't back down."

Looking at their resolute expressions, a warmth surged in Livia's chest.

Her lips curved into a small, appreciative smile.

The three of them then began searching the room, checking every corner for any suspicious objects. However, despite their thorough efforts, the results were disappointing. Aside from the items Adrian had brought with him, everything else was either in complete ruin or utterly ordinary—nothing even remotely suspicious.

Elise furrowed her brows as she scanned the room. "The Holy Grail is supposed to be a cup, but… what if it isn't actually shaped like one? Or maybe what we're looking for isn't the Grail itself, but something related to it?"

Livia's eyes flickered with thought.

Indeed, the "Holy Grail" wasn't necessarily a literal cup. Its descriptions had always been vague. If it was some sort of symbolic artifact, or if its power resided in another object, then their search method might be completely wrong.

"You have a point," Livia nodded slightly. "But we have no way of confirming whether any of these objects are significant or not."

Leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, Adrian smirked. "Well, I have a rather straightforward solution."

Livia and Elise both turned to look at him.

Adrian chuckled. "Aside from what I brought, there aren't many objects left here. We could just smash them one by one. If something truly powerful is hidden here, it won't break that easily, right?"

Elise stared at him in shock, while Livia gave it some thought and nodded. "Makes sense."

Without hesitation, she picked up a worn-out wooden box beside her and, without saying another word, hurled it forcefully to the ground!

Crash!

The box shattered instantly, splinters flying everywhere—completely empty inside.

Adrian was stunned by her decisive action and quickly shouted, "I-I was joking! Are you serious?! What if that thing actually contains magic but happens to be fragile?"

Livia's gaze remained calm as she responded in a detached tone, "Then it doesn't matter. If it can be destroyed so easily, then it's not worth risking our lives over."

She paused, her expression darkening slightly. "In my opinion, it's nothing more than an omen of misfortune. Destroying it might be a solution in itself."

Adrian frowned slightly at her words.

Elise still felt uneasy about it, but since Livia had already made up her mind, she didn't argue. Instead, she bit her lip, picked up an old iron ornament, and hurled it at the floor.

Bang!

The ornament hit the stone floor with a dull thud before rolling aside.

Adrian sighed, shaking his head with a bitter smile. "Fine. Since you two are already at it, I guess I'll join in."

And so, the three of them continued their unconventional search, tossing and smashing every old item in the room.

Heavy wooden chests, cracked pottery, rusted iron tools… The room echoed with a series of loud crashes and shattering sounds, dust filling the air. The basement looked like it had just been hit by a small disaster.

Yet when they finally stopped, the room was a complete mess—

And they still found nothing.
