Drogen slammed the door behind him, his hands trembling with barely-contained frustration. The drive back had been a blur—nothing but a mess of anger, confusion, and a gnawing emptiness that clawed at his chest. He needed to see her again, needed to confront her about what she'd said.

Married? Who the hell was she married to? Why the fuck did it hurt so much? Was it rejection? Was he feeling like this because she had chosen someone else over him? He had no fucking idea.

His brow furrowed in a deep frown as he stalked through the house, his steps heavy and purposeful. Maybe she was home. Maybe she'd come back and was hiding from him, avoiding him like she always did when she was pissed off or overwhelmed.
